Session 123: Scallywags: The Wedding of the Century
General Summary
The Day before, Ilknar had proposed, so now that time is of the essence, the wedding must be in full swing. They only have so much time before there is no more time. Nethpione, as the bride of Ilknar, has also been given 2500 gp from Sasha to prepare her dress and other decorations for these festivities. It is arranged to be set in a simple venue, that aboard the Horizon's Call, out on the open seas, the open waters, where Bilin can grace her servant and daughter upon their union. Torth is also requested to officiate, so others must teleport and allow him time to prepare for such duties. Mila also offers, off-handedly at first, to prepare her magnificent mansion, the demiplane of booze, sleep, and wrestling arenas, so that the 100 or so guests have enough food, lodging and fun.
As preparations continue, Orran takes time to gift the bride and groom with key items of both symbolic and utilitarian design. To Nethpione, he first gives a silver spoon bracelet, and the tiefling molds it with her own fire to rest upon her arm gently. Then Orran gives her a dog-bowl, that has Ilknar's named carved hapharzardly on one side. Nethpione laughs at this, and then sees the third gift, the name written and taken from the son of Hekkaton, one sealed by the magic of the fey. Nethpione knows this is important to Orran, even if she does not fully understand why ownership of this name is so key.
Then Orran goes to find Ilknar, and he gifts the groom a doorknob, one of symbolic purpose to how the fey see the material plane and mortals alike: crafted, made mechanical and foreign. The a silver bracelet made of a pristine fork, that which his own giant magic accepts when he places upon his wrist. Then finally a note, a speech, one to use to stop the queen gauge and influence over the people of the Grey Coasts and the Faces of the Kings.
Next Orran goes to find Lady Sasha, whom is below deck counting wine, arranging key vintages and tastes for the wedding's celebrations. Orran needs her help to 'kidnapp' Nethpione during the wedding's ceremonies, before the reception and dinner. It is then Sasha sends her own attendants to both attend to the wine, with Vrix' focus, and to help with the clothing and dress of Nethpione's bridal avatar, she sends her Mr. Dewelling, a very capable tailor. Below deck, Noodles, Nethpione, Krarissa, Tsara, and Chatulkik (a very capable sail crafter) work tirelessly for more than eight hours to complete the dress and reception attire. Lady Sasha however also leads Orran to her room, where she is able to find a matching green, black and golden trimmed top to go with the barony pants Orran had already procured for his own disguise.
We transition to a focus with Brimstone as the captain is beyond overwhelmed by the festivities, and he is informed of the expectation to officiate the wedding. Nerves take hold. This is beyond the expecation--a wedding--of his Crimson Fleet and Coup and Rebellion they must establish amongst the leadership of the Faces of the King. With this, Brimstone goes to Ilknar, confused at the timing and intention of a wedding a general--far too much pomp and circumstance--and Brimstone asks if the official part of the captain is now or later. Ilknar passes off this responsibility to his wife, and Brimstone goes to find Nethpione below furiously working on her dress, nervous and overwhelmed, but excited for her marriage to Ilknar. She thinks that Torth will be the best choice, for he was there when she was first found in the seas, and Ilknar was first shown his destiny and goals by this cleric and anthropologist. Brimstone then goes to his brother, Aikhon, so the quartermaster can use his Voyager Staff to teleport to Torth; however, to do this the quickest, Aikhon must go enlist the aid of Mila.
Aikhon finds Mila upon the main deck, taking over much of the area that will later today be the wedding dais. She has Pemi pinned, after an unknowning challenge by the giantkin bard when he walked into Mila chalk-drawn fighting circle just in front of the wedding dais. Orran crawls in, and unfortunately for him, offers an inadvertant challenge himself toward the High Mage. This starts a small wrestle and brawl, one Orran at first tries to avoid, but then cannot, forcing him to agree and be slammed twice in a row to the ground. All for naught. Mila will not assist with kidnapping enterprise for Nethpione's beautification and wedding reception. Orran pays to follow Pemi's own payment and loss to the wrestling gnome, Mila. He shakes her hand and scuffs the chalk circle as he leaves.
Aikhon arrives to meet Mila just after this scuffle, and he tries to balance from not falling in from the edge of the circle as cannons and wedding directions are arrange and rearranged about them. He falls in the circle, and he is soon overwhelmed by the gnome. But, Mila, does agree to use her own teleport to assist Aikhon in getting Torth from the Oceans of the Lost, so he can officiate this wedding of the century. Aikhon takes his Voyager Staff to take them there, and Mila, once there, will help them return. However, once aboard the Razor, many minutes go by to the invitation, storytelling, and sharing of ideas for the dragonborn and Aikhon. And, as they talk, Mila watches, and Torth grabs his gear and attire, with Weebs also joining to assist him. Thej and the others are left with their Crystal Ball, well Aikhon's, so they can watch the festivities from afar.
When the return with Torth to the Horizon's Call, and Webbs as well, the crew celebrates and rejoices at old friends coming to say hi again. And, he goes below to talk to Nethpione about her intents and vows, and then he comes back on deck. Torth must hear from Ilknar himself how he sees this furture, despite the warnings and tidings of sacrifice and sceptres of kingship and crown from the Wall and the Faces of the Kings. However, Torth also offers to commune with Bilin the Sea Goddess, the Mother of Nethpione. What will she say to this intent and union? This marriage? Bilin states yes. Heard by Ilknar and Torth within sea song, winds, and clouds above, as rain drops fall and echoe about. Torth is excited, and the time nears for the celebration.
Lady Sasha takes one last organized look over the wines and drinks, and thankfully her most lethal of yuanti varieties are still left behind. It is later in the evening, after the sunset, when the dress and weddign preparations are finally ready. The crews gather, but they soon also realize that hundreds of boats, and thousands of other citizens watch on for this spectacle and union of divine and mortal, of giant and beauty from above. Then she arrives from above, sailing from the clouds and sky like a spiraled light and fog, Nethpione falls like rain, and the crowd is silent. Once aboard the deck of the Call, the Ceremony finally begins. She is invited first for her truths and vows before the gods. She states: Purpose you have given me in this storm. I gladly seek to be your queen, your future. Then Ilknar is also invited. She is the family that is not complicated. The voice he hears within the winds.
Brimstone is one of the first to cheer, but perhaps chiefly because the booze and food now matter more than the spectacle. Mila clinks glasses and also proceeds to get drunk. Sasha and the rest of the crew follow afterward.
Moreover during all of this, Orran has come to the rigging of the Call above, for Lady Saerah sits on, sad and forlorn. He tries to comfort her, and he believes he is more than capable.
However, both he and Ilknar notice Lady Sasha being far too sneaky for such an occasion. Orran breaks away, and with Lady Sasha, Cody and Deoy and they take Nethpione away, below to Lady Sasha's quarters. The new outfit and makeup and poise must be given for the new queen, the princess now in waiting. They attend quickly and adorn her in fully regalia ready for nobility and the divinity she has been endowed with already. Yet, Ilknar looks for her, and twice does Deoy try to waylay him, and twice also for Cody below deck, and even almost thrice for Orran to let Sasha add the last finishing touches. She goes back above deck, and the quiet only speaks to her divine beauty highlighted now by the yuanti's beauitification.
The party ends the night.
The next morning, by sea, Dosgratin, Nethpione, Chatulkik, Mila, Ilknar, Brimstone, Orran, Wulfgar, Sasha will travel east to the cliff face, the old dwarven fort from ancient times, now turned into Ioomore's secondary cloning facillity.
