"Deep One"
“The Deep One” was once a sovereign of the seas, his dominion rivaling even Kava herself. His followers, bound by ritual, drowned willingly to be reborn as his eternal crew, loyal sailors of flesh and spirit who manned ghostly vessels that haunted the oceans of Baltharos. His command over the tides and the creatures of the deep made him one of the most revered Old gods, his name whispered in reverence across every coastline and seabound hall. His pride was not arrogance, but the quiet certainty of a god whose power felt as endless as the oceans themselves.
But his reign ended when Kava, unwilling to share her dominion, sent Bouros, a colossal demon of the abyss, to swallow him whole. For millennia, “The Deep One” has been imprisoned in the belly of Bouros, his celestial body twisted and swollen by his exile, his crew long perished and his worship forgotten. The ocean no longer bends to his will as it once did, but his presence still warps the currents, his call still echoing through shipwrecks and trenches. He is a leviathan of blackened scales, lined with translucent fins that pulse with bioluminescent light, his face split by gill-like maws that whisper to passing sailors in dreams.
Though broken and entombed, his pride has not faltered. He waits, patient and calculating, for the day Bouros falters and the seas once again heed his command. Sailors still whisper of his most treasured relic, the Six Golden Skeleton Dice, said to be a gift from the seas themselves. The legend says: “One who rolls decides their fate.”
Formerly known as Vilentis, god of the Tides.
