Silver City Football League

The Silver City Football League is the professional football (soccer) league of Silver City and the premier association on Kanaloa. Currently, there are 22 teams divided into two tiers, the top MMD Super League and the lower KanaBev City League.

Structure

The SCFL consists of 2 tiers of professional football (the MMD Super League and the lower tier KanaBev City League as well as 4 tiers of semi-professional and amateur teams. Teams from the top 2 tiers can be relegated and promoted based on performance (as can the teams in the bottom 4) but there is no promotion/relegation between the professional leagues and the semi-professional/amateur leagues. There is an annual tournament that includes all teams from all 6 leagues called the All-City Challenge Cup.

History

The Silver City Football League was founded on 04-09-2097 and originally consisted of 8 teams, each one representing one of the regional districts. These original teams were also owned by the district council. Ongoing financial mismanagement and consistently poor on-field performance led Ballymacarrett FC and Tauranga FC to amalgamate for the 2108 season, becoming Docksider FC.   By 2100, the population of Silver City reached one million people. An amateur league of 5 company teams was established in 2103 and grew to 7 teams by 2111. After years of negotiations, the corporate teams joined the League in 2114. A new 40,000 seat stadium (Sandoval Park) was completed in 2118 and it became the host of most league games. A second wave of expansion took place in 2122 with 4 teams being added. The league was restructured into two tiers with the top ten teams forming the Super League while the expansion clubs joined the remainders in the City League. Further teams were added to the City League in 2128, 2131, and 2134.
