Symbols of the Capital

In the capital there are three main factions that oversee the country. They are commonly referring to these factions as families. To give a specific family name would be inaccurate as they are all chosen within their respected positions instead of being born into such families.

The family of Sapphire contains individuals that were gifted with the power of Sapphire after their rite of passage. The power of Sapphire grants its user the ability to control the element of Water as well as a large magical threshold. Most individuals of the family of Sapphire are also well gifted in the school of Enchantment.

The family of Emerald is composed of individuals that were blessed with the power of Emerald. This power grants its user the ability to control the elements of Air as well as a fairly large magical threshold. Members of the family are also masters in the school of evocation.

The family of Ruby is composed of individuals that are gifted with the power of Ruby. Apart from the ability to control the element of fire, they are matched in magical threshold to the family of Emerald. Unfortunately, their alignment to the element of fire also causes these individuals to burn through their magic threshold at a fast pace. This could also contribute to the reason why many of the individuals of this family are masters in the school of conjuration.

These three factions are the symbol of the capital since they have been the only groups to obtain family status. They also form the foundation for the government and oversee the balance and peace within our realm.

To reach the status of family, a group must have a proven generation of what is fondly called legacies. A Legacy is an individual with a parent who is part of the same chosen family. The longer the generation can reside in a respective family, the more trustworthy and honorable the family becomes. This has also led to a practice of selective marriages to try and increase the chances to produce a legacy.

The Family that contains the most legacies becomes the leaders of the capital. Apart from the proverbial throne, the members are given the honorable titles of crowned Prince/Princess. The throne family is tasked with overseeing the welfare of the land such as community development, social programs and wealth. Members of the crowned faction also create the laws in which the capital governs itself.

The next position within the government is given to the family with the second largest amount of legacies. The members are given the titles of Judicators and must ensure the laws are respected and enforced throughout the land. This family mostly takes care of the local law enforcement and helps settle the disputes in the land.

The last position within the government is given to the family with the third largest amount of legacies. The fitting titles of Requisitum is given to these family members. This family must provide the military might to protect the capital and its citizens from outside forces that pose a threat. They are given the freedom to utilize any method they deem necessary to ensure that the land remains peaceful.
