Clear Crystal
Clear Crystals are a common mineral sourced from the mines of Southern Kotuye by the Aravun Yashelin outpost. These crystals are not especially valuable, but they are ubiquitous in construction and artistic endeavors throughout society, found in old-school window panes, chandeliers, and even kitchen cutlery.
Miners usually extract Clear Crystals in large, spiky chunks of clear crystals which possess an iridescent quality when placed in the light. These hunks of crystals are then placed onto a train and shipped to Shushani Pithin's factory, where specialized members of the Shushani Flock process the mineral into a variety of shapes and sizes.
For years, people have wondered about the ingredients required to make 'Hearthfire Gold', a color of dye or ink previously exclusively produced by Uri and Areta Maikir. The key ingredient to achieve Hearthfire Gold's glittering, iridescent-like quality are Clear Crystals. In this instance, Clear Crystals are ground into a fine powder - one of the rarest ways to process the mineral. When this powder is added to inks and dyes, Uri and Areta discovered that the crystal takes on the color while preserving its iridescence. In the instance of Hearthfire Gold, the powder creates a glittering, amber-colored effect. It has also been applied to a shade of silver, which gives it a shimmering quality as well.
