Drowned
The drowned are the followers of Vaatnið, Drowned God. They mostly exist in Pandora with very few in other continents. Due to their religious beliefs, they either live on boats deep in the dangerous waters of the oceans or on port towns. The drowned, are exiled or kicked from most other communities so they tend to stick together near the sea or even in it in some cases. They got their name from the other folk who despised them and called them many different names but drowned stuck. Some of the names include mad sailors, fools of the ocean, cursed by the sea, seamen asskrakens. The water around these towns usually turns sickly green and smells of rot and fish, yet the drowned consider the water blessed and will even drink this ''blessed'' salty water. The love that the drowned possess for the sea makes them experts at fishing and sailing. Even the worst ones are capable of much more than any simple sailor. Their following of Vaatnið also provides them with his favour, when at sea, the drowned are less likely to be attacked by the beasts or storms and waves and gain a natural affinity to the sea, being able to slightly camouflage their bodies.. Vaatnið is a cruel god, not even his followers are exempt from the harsh conditions he creates in the oceans but the followers seem to embrace this as a challenge to their fortitude and in many cases will choose to enter the sea when a storm is raging. They arm themselves with nets, hooks with chains and javelins, all marked with Vaatnið's symbol.
Challenging the sea is the primary way that the followers pray to the Vaatnið but they also bow in the direction of the nearest body of water for hours on end meditating.
