Blackrock Mountain
The home of the Dark Iron Dwarves, once a contested place of command by the Orcish Horde, the Black Dragons, and most importantly Ragnaros, the Firelord. The Blackrock Mountains has been the battlefield for many conflicts throughout the history of the Eastern Kingdoms. It was the sight for the deciding battle between the Humans and Orcs during the Second War, resulting in the Horde to retreat back to the Dark Portal, further within the mountains, or captured and sent to internment camps. It was also the temporary home for Deathwing and his brood, where to this day eggs and whelplings can still be found within the deepest parts of the mountain.
The Dark Iron Dwarves discovered the mountains after having been defeated and thrown out of Ironforge after the War of Three Hammers. The Bronzebeards settled within the mountains of Dun Morough, the Wildhammers built the bastion known as Grim Batol in the mountains to the east, while the Dark Irons ventured south into the Redridge Mountains. Despite the Civil War ending, the Dark Irons continued to battle the Bronzebeards and Wildhammers grudgingly, inciting a war that ended with the Bronzebeards and Wildhammers allying to push the Dark Irons back into their mountains. The founder and emperor of the Dark Irons', Thane Thaurissan, angered and desperately began to the call upon the fiery core of the mountain itself to wield it like a weapon, accidentally summoning forth Ragnaros, the Firelord. This cataclysmic mistake is the cause of the blackened mountains and lava rivers that flow in the nearby regions that still lay barren to this day. This has created an unstable elemental environment and has provided an excellent home black dragons.
Geography
The largest mountain in the Eastern Kingdoms whose mountain ranges all throughout the Redridge Mountains and Elwynn Forest. The mountain was named so (much before the Orcish Invasion) for its distinctive dark geography made of obsidian and lava rocks, with lava flowing from the tallest peak towards the ashy landscape beneath the mountain's shadow. The constant smoke emitting from the volcanic openings paint the sky a constant red hue, complemented by the dry heat of the landscape and arid air. The geography around the mountain ranges remains a consistent red-clay to ashen black color, with the regions being named the Searing Gorge and the Burning Steppes to categorizes north and south, respectively, of the mountain.
Fauna & Flora
A rare flower blooms by the lava beds nearby the mountain ranges called Cinderbloom, said to be used by alchemists to create fire resistance potions.
