Summer Camp Prep 2024

 

Week 1

  Change - The overarching idea of my world is "shattered", it is a broken world with broken magicians who end up with broken minds. Instability and change are inevitable, especially as the Sanguine Tower's system of indentured mages begins to break down.   Other assignments for week 1 - Added some categories, decided on a tag of #sc24 for Summer Camp articles, rather than sticking them all in one folder. Refreshed the meta with some updated ideas, although things are still very much in flux.  

Week 2

  Refuge - The main character of Azarth seeks nothing but refuge throughout the story. She cannot find it, even in her own mind. She does not know what such a thing might look like, although she encounters many things claiming to be refuges.   Other assignments for week 2 - Accountability will be the community on the discord server, primarily. CSS has been checked and appears ready for camp.  

Week 3

  Belief - "Maion created the world, pure and perfect, and placed humankind within it to thrive. Their sibling, Zolgar, jealous of this work, created the mystic plane and magical power, enticing humankind to use and abuse this mighty resource, polluting Maion's vision with strange creations and altering reality to their whims. Thus were the seeds of the Shattering sown." - common Creation Myth in Polira. The majority belief is that casters of magic are unnatural, tainted, evil, and otherwise unwanted individuals, the source of all the ills of the current world.   Other assignments for week 3 - Inspiration? Uh...... I have no clue. It comes to me, or it doesn't. Maps and Images - Uploaded a starter map of the country of Polira.  

Week 4

  Decay - I know for sure that Polira's system for containing casters is decaying and breaking down. I don't know yet exactly what that looks like, or what other systems might be decaying and coming to an end. I'm sure this prompt will help here.   Other week 4 assignments - Set up a section of my WA Notebook just for Summer Camp brainstorming, with a page for each theme to start with. This should encourage me to just jot down ideas as they come, even if I don't end up using them. Also came up with something of an "elevator pitch" for my front page, although I feel like it still needs tweaking.
