Oyseoppi'Lskyldu

Copse People

Basic Information

Anatomy

Oyseoppi'Lskyldu have typical bipedal upright anatomy. Two upper limbs with five articulated fingers, of which two are opposable, and two similar lower limbs which they use to walk that are slighly longer. They are thin wooden creatures. They do not have skin or exterior fur, merely armour like bark.
Bark varies in texture from polished smooth to roughened and varied in tone, but generally remains with in the tones and shades of the Great Forest.

Biological Traits

It is clear that Oyseoppi'Lskyldu are a plant evolved species. They do not have any shared organs with animal evolved species.

How they evolved to have the same general anatonmical shape as bipedal upright animal speicies is a question with many answers from many experts. There is also a good possiblity that the Oyseoppi'Lskyldu have their own answers.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivores, and seem to be able to eat anything that is organic.

Oyseoppi'Lskyldu root into the ground at night and draw their need nutrients from the soil of Nur-ymir. They hunt and eat other organic things for pleasure and because they are deeply xenophobic.

Moderate. They are not impeded by the terrain of Nur-ymir. They are never slowed, never entangled, or have difficulty of any sort moving through the Great Forest.

Good. They are very hard wood. Those who have successfully managed to develop a mutual respect with the Oyseo believe them to be composed of the deep heart wood of the ancient trees.

2 - Claws
Oyseo have very sharp talons. They use them effectively to defend themselves, slash through thick vine, underbrush, branches and the bodies of their prey.

Special Qualities -
Forest Sense -
Oyseo know where every threat to them is within 20ms. It is uncertain how they know this, but one theory put forward by Ackrama of the Green is that the Oyseo have some chemical capacity to recieve informaiton from the roots of the trees within Nur-ymir.
As summerized by Vr'lzma of the Green, "Ack thinks the Oyseoppi'Lskyldu 'communicate' with the trees. But, through chemicals? Their evidence is weak. And, there are better theories."

fire, and lighting

Treasure -
Oyseo, while lacking any complicated civilization or culture, do collect items that are rare in the forest. These tend to be metals, valueable gems, and even the common items of everyday life to which they put to some creative uses. Trade is possible, but uncertain and risky.

Tactics -
If you are lucky, you will encounter a single Oyseoppi'Lskyldu. This individual will be a scout for a family group. The scout will most likely watch you and hopefully determine that you are not a threat.
If you are unlucky, you will stumble upon a family group, and in all likelihood be considered prey and eaten.

Family groups tend to consist of 6 - 8 adults with 2 or 3 children. The adults are highly skilled hunters and have little difficulty using the terrain of Nur-ymir to their advantage. They will lay traps, ambush, attack from range, basically utilize any number of advanced group tactics to hunt.

"The thing is, Nur-ymir is never quiet. City folk have this strange idea that the Great Forest is silent when they stop talking, or moving, or whatever they're doing. The truth is the Great Forest don't care what you are doing it just keeps on living, breathing, rustling, grunting and goanin'
Yup, and the Oyseo, well they use those sounds to their advantage."

Byron Grayel, re-tired Human Tourist.
