I like the little stories from his life. I find his "split" personality interesting, in terms of his love for Eleonore and, in contrast, his caring towards the population.
Thank you! He's the sort of king outsiders hear the horror stories of and are surprised when his own people adore him. The truth being mix of the two is fun to develop.
I think this character does a good job of showcasing how evil doesn't exist in isolation. Someone who commits great horrors can also do plenty of good! Obviously, the sexual assault is appalling, but it didn't hit me so hard because I was still reeling from the fact that he ate his own baby brother o-o

The little lie about his eye is just a nice little touch to his story. Poor Elinore. That whole story kind of overshadows any good he's doing for orphans for me XD
