Pinesbridge
"An hour or so later they finally saw the town of Pinesbridge in the distance. The log cabins belched smoke from their stone chimneys and the town was full and busy with people going about their day, cloaks and scarves pulled tight against the cold. Leaves buffeted on the wind, raining in a shower of brown and crimson. The bare branches of the trees shivered, the evening wind slicing their cheeks like icy knives. Mist clung to the buildings, the iron street lamps glowing with a halo of golden light."- An extract from Chapter 8: The Black Dagger Inn, The Fallen
Government
The town is lead by the mayor and his council, these people decide the taxes, laws, and legislations of Pinesbridge although the Queen and her Council of Lords in Avradel always gets the final say and have to approve everything. Despite the Mayor being the head figure in Pinesbridge, the people who actually make the decisions are the Guildmaster of the Guild of Woodcutters and the Priest of the Church of Esvelen, whispering in the Mayor's ear (mostly against each other).
Defences
On one side of the town is the Mysterious Wildwood which provides a basically impenetrable barrier. Surrounding the other sides is a large wooden fence, made up of the tallest and strongest trees and is impossible to cut down with a regular axe. There are gates, although these are usually left open as the inhabitants of Pinesbridge don't have any immediate threats.
Industry & Trade
The majority of the inhabitants of Pinesbridge are woodcutters by trade. This makes it the largest supplier of wood to the capital Avradel and other settlements in Azmarin. The wood is also highly sought after in the rest of Aycia due to it's strength, and Pinesbridge has a deal with the dwarves for their best dwarven steel in exchange for hardened logs from the Mysterious Wildwood. All of this trading keeps the people of Pinesbridge well off and with all the basic necessities.
Guilds and Factions
The main organisation in Pinesbridge is of course the Guild of Woodcutters, housing the headquarters of the guild and containing more than half of its members. This guild basically rules Pinesbridge and makes all of the decisions for the welfare of their business and trade. Another major organisation is the Church of Esvelen, making all the religious decisions surrounding Pinesbridge. The Church doesn't have a good relationship with the Guild, as they disagree with their methods.
Architecture
Due to it being a woodcutting town, the houses and buildings of Pinesbridge are built of wood. This is apart from the Church which must always be built from stone, and the Town Hall as stone was seen as a luxury and the Mayor wanted to be seen as rich.
