Rust on the Iron Fist

After centuries of service as Lictor in the Order of the Iron Fist, Lovara began to grow soft. She hesitated when preparing sieges and infiltrations, taking longer than usual to make decisions. They were tiny mistakes at first, but they did not go unnoticed. The imp that served as her familiar, Khal, reported this insubordination to Archdominus Serallus.
  Angered at his lictor, Archdominus Serallus summoned Lovara to speak with him immediately. Their meeting swiftly devolved into a battle as Lovara renounced her faith in the Archdominus. He was too cruel, and Lovara no longer believed in his teachings. They fought, but it was not a battle Lovara could win, and she was struck down by the Archdominus’ blade.

Bending the Rules

Upon Lovara’s death, her soul should have been destined for torment in Diabolis, as she died by the hand of Archdominus Serallus himself. Exarch Estix, however, took pity on the repentant hellknight and ferried her soul to the Welkin instead. The Archdominus was furious and immediately took the issue to Exarch Lanua, demanding a claim to Lovara’s soul.
  Lanua met with the Archdominus privately and managed to convince him that Lovara’s soul simply was not worth the argument and trial. Since Estix stood by their decision, this would involve the Dominion and the Exarchs meeting in the planar court and going to trial with Overseer Treald presiding over the affair. He was convinced to let this slide once, but the Archdominus would not tolerate any further offenses.

Hand in Fist

The affair was not a complete loss for the Archdominus; he realized that Khal was a valuable asset and had the imp promoted to Dominus status. Khal became the Dominus of perfection, complacency, and loyalty and was given a house of devils to command.
  Khal’s domain, the House of the Hand that Feeds, is right beside the House of the Iron Fist. Since his promotion, Khal has served the Archdominus as his most loyal follower.
