Table Spice

The commodity known as "table spice" is a mixture of salt and common spices. It is produced by many spice shops throughout Avarha, all following the same standard recipe. Most shops also sell their own unique blend of table spice that is a slight variation to the standard recipe, but to only stock a store version without the common mixture is enough to ruin a spice shop's business and the owner's reputation.

Manufacturing process

The recipe for table spice includes salt and numerous dried, crushed spices. They are mixed together and sold in jars or bottles in many spice shops. Table spice is expected to be purchased in bulk because of how much it used in daily life, though it does retain its flavor for several months to a year.

History

The origins of table spice has been debated for centuries. All anyone knows is that the recipe has been used widely across Avarha for as long as anyone can remember. It has traditionally been a staple on all tables at mealtime, and is added to just about any dish that isn't sweet.

Significance

Table spice is used so often that it is culturally significant across Avarha. It is considered a basic, everyday staple of life anywhere in Avarha. Any scarcity of any ingredients is enough to distress whole communities.
