Seafire
Seafire, so named for its common use as a ship-to-land or ship-to-ship weapon, is a liquid materials that is extremely flammable and can be projected into a stream for about 100 ft. It remains flammable when on water and clings to most substances that it hits, making a significant enough amount of it a death sentence for a wooden ship. The fumes alone can be deadly in enough concentration. They are among the most used weapons in naval combat, alongside Flares, Bowtractors, and Hwachas. A more raw and primitive version of the substance can also be burned as an energy source, though this use has been lost in time since not enough could be harvested for this purpose.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Seafire in its raw form is a thick black liquid that releases toxic fumes and runs slowly across the ground, but in its refined form the substance takes on a bluish hue due to some of the materials mixed into it.
Geology & Geography
Raw seafire, which isn't as useful as a weapon but better for fuel, can often be found naturally bubbling up from the ground or can be extracted from liquid reservoirs. It is also thoerized that this main ingredient can be found much deeper underground in larger quantities, but nobody can yet extract it from that far down. This ingredient is then mixed with a gellant and a number of other minor ingredients, such as charcoal and sulfur, to obtain its final form. Many of these ingredients are common in mines and tar wells around the Lota seas.
History & Usage
History
Seafire was officially discovered by the Cyanni around 19 Post Treaty, but it is likely that various societies had discovered components of this recipe long before that. The Cyanni originally intended for it to be used as a fuel, like unto charcoal or wood, but they couldn't harvest enough at first for it to be useful for this purpose so this use was lost to time. Instead it was discovered that, when propelled through the air with a pressure nozzle, it could wreak havok on large hordes of monsters at distances of nearly 30 feet. This new use saw major advances in how Seafire was created and developed. Soon it became a widespread weapon used against the creatures that plague Avani society.
By the time of the Cyanni War, it had long since been realized that this weapon against monsters could equally kill other Avani. The projectors had advanced to ranges of about 80 ft, but they'd become too difficult to transport over land and too complicated to construct at the site of a battlefield (unlike the common practice with trebuchets). Converting them into a navy-only weapon solved these problems. Most ships carry barrels of Seafire that can then be loaded into the nozzle systems for battle.

Author's Notes
Seafire, despite its resemblence to the Greek Fire once used on Earth, is probably a primitive form of Napalm.
