The Faceted Veil. Delineating the border between the deep ethereal and the material plane, the faceted veil is a thin anti-magic field capable of blocking portal magic from the other planes. Only ritual sanctioned portals may be opened and it’s a one-way trip, those who pass through must return through the Ethereal plane. In times of great need, a compass may be given to the travelers so that they may find their way back, but only those with the strength to protect such a dangerous tool. Approaching Avalon from the Deep Ethereal, this surface has a rippling grey sheen and when viewed from afar has the appearance of an egg. Of course, the 24 constellations are visible on the interior surface, suspended on a web of fables.
