The void outbreak

The Void Outbreak was a catastrophic event where Void particles merged with the world's magic, intertwining with the Weave and allowing the destructive force of the Void to infect mortals, transforming them into creatures known as Grimms. This outbreak rapidly spread due to the unchecked growth of Void particles, making containment difficult. Despite the successful use of several Wish spells to banish these particles, the Grimms persist, continuing to plague the world with their enigmatic survival.
  Symptoms of Void Infection:
Darkened Veins and Eyes: Early signs of infection include darkening veins and pupils, as Void energy seeps into the bloodstream and mind of the afflicted. This physical change is accompanied by a growing sense of detachment from reality, as the infected begin to feel a pervasive emptiness within.
Emotional Drain: Infected individuals experience a draining of their emotional state, with feelings of joy, love, and hope fading away, replaced by a growing void of apathy and despair. This emotional numbness makes them more susceptible to the influence of the Void and accelerates their transformation.
Temporal Disorientation: As the infection progresses, victims suffer from temporal disorientation, experiencing distorted perceptions of time. They might perceive time slowing down, speeding up, or looping, leading to confusion and a sense of being trapped in a never-ending cycle.
Connection to Rifts: Those heavily infected become drawn to emotional and temporal rifts, areas of intense trauma or disruption in the fabric of reality. They are compelled to seek out these rifts, feeding the Void energy within them and hastening their own transformation into Grimms.
Loss of Identity: In the advanced stages, the infected lose their sense of self and become one with the Void, their bodies and minds reshaping into the various forms of Grimms. At this point, they are no longer human or mortal but are fully consumed by the Void.
  Grimms (Voidlings):
  Imps:
These are the weakest form of Grimms, unable to attack directly. They feed on the energy of rifts and often move in packs, following stronger Grimms or seeking out rifts to increase their power and evolve.
  Beasts:
The second stage of Grimms, Beast Grimms are more dangerous and aggressive. Once they have nested and fed on a rift for a sufficient period, they become fast and deadly predators, guarding their territory and hunting anything that intrudes.
  Matriarch (The Mother):
The most powerful form of Grimms, the Matriarchs are chosen from among the pack to commune with a rift and transform into a leader. They command the other Grimms and use the rift's power to create a nexus point, which they control to trap and feed on their prey. Matriarchs are cunning and use their abilities to manipulate their environment, making them formidable opponents.
  Impact:
The Void Outbreak left a lasting scar on the affected nations, with task forces in both Eire and Mannin dedicated to dealing with Grimms. These creatures continue to pose a significant threat, as they feed on the energy of rifts and evolve, making them difficult to eradicate entirely. The origin of their survival, even after the Void particles were banished, remains a mystery, adding to the ongoing struggle against this dark force.
