Eternal Slumber

Eternal Slumber (also known as The Sweetest Dream) is a powerful and insidious curse that ensnares its victims in an unending cycle of sleep, trapping them in a world of dreams that feel more real than reality itself. This curse has no known cure and has left countless individuals lost within their own minds, living out entire lifetimes in dreamscapes while their physical bodies remain comatose. Symptoms of Eternal Slumber: Prolonged Sleep: The most immediate and obvious symptom is the onset of an unusually deep sleep that can last from a few months to several years. Those afflicted by the curse fall into this sleep without warning, often during everyday activities, and cannot be awakened by any conventional means.   Vivid Dreamscapes: Within their slumber, the cursed individuals experience incredibly vivid and detailed dreams. These dreamscapes are so lifelike that they can easily be mistaken for reality, making it difficult for the dreamer to recognize that they are, in fact, dreaming. The dreams are often tailored to the individual's deepest desires, fears, or memories, creating a compelling illusion of an alternate life.   Loss of Temporal Awareness: While trapped in the dream world, the passage of time becomes meaningless. Days, months, or even years can go by in the dream without the sleeper realizing how much time has passed in the real world. This disconnection from time only deepens the curse's hold on the victim.   Resistance to Awakening: Attempts to wake those under the influence of Eternal Slumber are met with significant resistance. Even if external forces manage to break through the dream and momentarily wake the sleeper, they are typically pulled back into slumber within a week. The curse seems to have a self-sustaining mechanism that draws the victim back into its grasp.   Mental Deterioration: Prolonged exposure to the dream world can lead to a gradual deterioration of the individual's mental state. Over time, the distinction between dream and reality blurs, causing confusion, anxiety, and a weakened grasp on their true identity. This mental erosion makes it increasingly difficult for the victim to escape the curse's hold.   No Known Cure: Despite numerous attempts by healers and mages to break the curse, there is no known cure for Eternal Slumber. Those afflicted are often left in the care of others, with their bodies sustained by magic or machinery while their minds remain trapped in a perpetual dream.
