The Void

The void is the cancer on the world, infecting the Weave itself spreading from one point of origin in the distant past. The destruction of an inconsequential sun, a supernova that destroyed planets & the lives that existed there. This leads to no matrix and no multiverse since reality never fractured in “the experiment”. Alexandre says “Life goes on as it should have before any of us came along,” and Arik states; “either something is, or it isn’t. You can’t deny the truth because you wish to have a different past.”
  When Alexandre finds out that both races will perish due to his actions he still continues. Because life will persevere. Someone else will come, let us all die.
