Where the world stands

The year 1143 of the Common Era stands at the precipice of a fractured world, its balance teetering under the weight of past conflicts and emerging chaos. Five years after the cataclysmic events chronicled in The Oliria Chronicles, the world is once again embroiled in turmoil. The Shadow Wars, long thought to be simmering embers of a bygone age, have roared back to life, fueled by the machinations of the enigmatic and ruthless Alexandre Kollisi, leader of the Illevan Insurrection. His audacious rise to power has placed Agartha Nova, the once-proud (and relatively new) seat of the Akati civilization, firmly under his control. From this stronghold, Kollisi manipulates the dying Weave, driving fear and discord into the hearts of nations as the realms bleed into each other at an alarming rate.

The akati, their civilization shaken to its core, have retreated to the mountainous refuge of A'triyes, a fortress of both learning and resilience, and scattered outposts hidden within the crags and cliffs of the Haweyne range. Here, they regroup, their proud traditions and advanced knowledge the last bastions against the encroaching shadows.

The very fabric of reality is at risk as the Veil, the mystical barrier between realms, has been torn asunder.
