Session 16 Report

The group found a moment to gather themselves a little, and regrouped by the door. The door was thick and steel, so Inquiry (Unit-011) attempted to request access, but the exit was blocked. By this point, creatures from the room had begun to creep toward the group. Sounds could be heard from all sides, and the darkness was making visibility nearly impossible.   At this point, the Orb in the middle of the room lifted off and attacked the group, first atttempting to lock Taegen and Arnark Fistfist down, unsuccessfully. It flew off into the pitch. The group fought off another Clockwork version of a displacer beast, watching their very existence seem to glitch as arrows sunk into them, sending sparks flying. Orshi Vyashlanova pelted enemies with snowballs, and the group gathered behind the wall. At this point, the Orb, MODEL 83401d34 , began flooding the area with gas, hitting Aris, Orshi, and Frederic. Taegan Theralai summoned bears that brought down the last clockwork, just as the Orb flooded the area with fire, seeming to stick to everything it touched. Even the steel floor seemed to be aflame. The Orb and the group battled. Aris sunk arrows into the Orb as Taegen was underneath, having just clobbered the clockwork. Frederic “Muttonchops” Fiddlepipes played a rousing tune, inspiring his teammates into action, emboldening their every step, the cheer enlivening their blades. At this point, Inquiry fired a Chromatic Orb that arced beautifully, sinking directly into the exposed core of the Orb and exploding, covering it in thick acid. This caused the Orb to react, firing a neon yellow ray from one of their thick metal tentacles that'd become warped by earlier in the fight. The cracked gem on the end split the ray. One ray blew a portion of the a mechanical centaur off. Another opened up a hole in the door for the group to escape. The last ray hit Arnark Fistfist directly, and for 73 damage. The disintegration never game him the chance to even say goodbye. He did drop loot though, so that's nice of him.
The ball dropped as well, when Orshi suddenly fired off a Ray of Frost that finished the Orb, It landed on Taegen, who was not able to dodge quickly enough and was shoved aside. He's ok, though shaken up from the sound of a multiple ton pinball dropping onto a steel plate next to his head.   The room finally quieted down, but Arnark dropped the Amulet of Dreamless Sleep and his Leather Bag. Why did he have the amulet? Why wasn't his bag destroyed, and what the hell is it for?
