Bartholemeu Diotr

Bartholemeu Diotr lived around 814, the patriarch of the Diotr family. During this time, Atrea was at the peak of their power, the capital city of the entire Southern Kuchils.
The Diotr family, at this time, was fairly small, but old and powerful. They were a noble family from early in the beginnings of the formation of the Southern Kuchils (at the beginning of the current age), land owners with control of a portion of the Vegura Bay.
Bartholemeu was a skilled wizard of his own right, and quickly showed enormous potential around the schools of transmutation and necromancy both.
The rest of the Diotr family began to 'rot on the vine', so to speak, and spoiled themselves into oblivion. A mere shadow of the terrifying force they'd been before, Bartholemeu watched until he was the last remaining, old and bitter in his derelict castle.
For a while, nothing was heard of from the castle. The queen sent word, but there was no reply. Attempts to use divination were easily warded off.
The Queen sent a group of trusted soldiers to look into it, and things went poorly from there.
One from the group returned, though not alive. Her corpse was found standing at the gates of Atrea, perfectly straight. A dark black brand was scorched deep into her forehead, the symbol of the Diotr family.
At this affront, the Queen sent word to the Light of Pelor, petitioning them to send their paladins to raze Lord Diotr's Castle (Dracolich Lair). The Light of Pelor sent a small group of clerics and paladins to check in, but were quickly met by a new threat, and retreated immediately.
A Dracolich had taken the castle.
At this, the Queen petitioned Candlekeep to intervene, but they declined. Candlekeep does not get involved unless Candlekeep themselves are directly threatened.
The threat of the dracolich kept the region in turmoil for decades, as the region was frequently assaulted by aberrations in the nights, horrific nightmares that stalked the roads.
When Atrea fell, the dracolich left, and the castle was left mostly alone. Eventually, curious folk would poke their head, hoping to find treasure or a sign of life, but would never be seen again.
This drew hardier stock, as stronger groups began venturing in, fighting off the evils that plagued the lair.
Eventually, a young Dragonborne escaped there, having found Orshi's Book.

The group visited his lair, Lord Diotr's Castle.
