The Dragon Mountains
The Dragon Mountains is the largest mountain range in Aurvana, it stretches from the Western Coast of Ablen all the way East ending near the Hyrad Peninsula. The Dragon Mountains act as a natural border between Almara and Ablen its most western point ends in the area known as the Stone lands or Carregtir, the mountain range is huge both in height, Length and Width.
Geography
The Dragon Mountains are a type of fold mountains meaning they were formed by the movement of Tectonic plates sliding together. Several parts of the Dragon mountains have glaciers atop them which carve out steep trenches of ice along the mountain sides. The dragon Mountains have a series of passes but the majority of these are small and are carved out by rivers, the only two large mountain passes are the Gray Pass in Aldonia which leads into Kotir, and the Red pass near the Zoulthos-Cahlimar border which leads into the Panthara Plateau.
Fauna and Flora
The Dragon Mountains are incredibly steep mountains that support very little wildlife and plant life, while there are a few birds and other creatures capable of surviving in these harsh lands the main creatures that live up there are Wyverns and in a more ancient time even dragons which of course is where the mountain range gets its name.
History
There have been a wide variety of cultures that have used the mountain range to their advantage but no culture has used it more then the Gurdori, the Dwarves have built massive tunnels and fortresses inside the mountains and cliffsides, most notably is the mountain fortress of Windpeak in Aldonia which was originally built by a Gurdori clan.
