The Despoilers
Some regiments in armies have a plan for every attack, The Despoilers have an attack for every plan. Specializing in covert espionage and property destruction, The Despoilers are specifically trained to destroy or remove key structures, supply lines and vehicles in the enemy's arsenal. Though The Despoilers do avoid being seen, and are very good at this, killing an enemy who is in their way or may alert further security is not outside of their skill set.
The Nguvu way of war is to incite chaos on the battlefield and to win the war before it has even begun, and the Despoilers are just one of many branches of the Nguvu Army that achieves that. If the enemy has no stronghold, or weapon production, and no combat ready vehicles, then they cannot fight a war. The Despoilers are less useful against more primitive armies who use horses or large boars to ride into battle. The Nguvu Army sees animals as victims of war rather than participators in it, and are therefore hesitant to use The Despoilers to eliminate them.
Composition
Manpower
No one is sure how many Despoilers are part of the Nguvu Army as they will often wear masks and hide their identity; often they do not even know each others true names. Only small parties of 5 or 6 Despoilers are sent on a single mission, believing that the low number will help avoid capture and will still be satisfactory to get the job done. What is known is that during Dagna's reign their numbers dwindled, in part due to the longevity of peace time and in part due to Dagna's lack of interest in the Nguvu armies continued strength.
Weaponry
Each Despoiler carries a black bag that is pinned tightly to their back. This bag contains pouches of various materials to help The Despoiler complete their mission. The pouches keep the bag streamlined, allowing for greater manoeuvrability for the individual.
The most frequently used pouches contain.
- Black powder (Explosive when ignited)
- Flash powder (Causes a loud bang when left in sunlight)
- Acid (For melting locks or other metal)
