Ringtail
Halfway between a humanoid and a spirit of nature, the ringtails are a curious species of often contradictory origin. Some claim that they're incarnations of the 'true wilds' without the influence of the gods or planes. Others claim that they were the first of the fey, driven from their home by 'wicked pixies' and capricious hags. A choice few see themselves as the incarnations of Yasra, made to enact both her will and that of the wilderness. No consensus has ever been drawn for the species, and little may ever appear.
Ringtails get their name from their tails - which always feature some increment of 3 rings. Nigh all ringtails resemble bipedal versions of small woodland animals, ranging from raccoons to skunks to possums. Beyond this broad description, ringtails are almost impossibly varied in shape, with even siblings bearing resemblance to wholly different animals. Beyond their ability to climb and flexible skeletons, ringtails can be born with anything from sharp fangs to shapeshifting to latent druidic magic.
As a people, the ringtails are usually people of extremes. While most have a natural urge to cooperate with others, many ringtails are extreme in personality, ethics, and outlook in life. Whether it's spreading whimsy, fueling an unstoppable gluttony, or creating a mathematically perfect trade network, exceedingly few ringtails are what most people would consider 'normal'. Even within their own secluded forest enclaves, many are encouraged to embrace bold and outlandish personalities as a way of showcasing their individuality.
