Duskveil

A city born from tragedy, Duskveil prides itself on self-sufficiency, refusing to place its fate in the hands of wandering adventurers. This core belief—etched into the city’s foundations after the fall of Vorondarux—shapes its culture, policies, and people. From its fortified walls to its ever-growing Aetheryte monopoly, Duskveil is a place driven by resilience, where strength is earned, and survival is a collective effort, not a heroic gamble.

Description

History

Before the Siege of Duskveil—when the Boo Boo Buddies brought down the evil greatwyrm Vorondarux—the city was little more than a pirate haven, rife with chaos and lawlessness. But when the dragon fell, it unleashed a devastating explosion that leveled the city. From the smoldering ruins rose three voices: Mork "Gork," Ellara Farae, and the Grandmage Alovar. The new Duskveil was founded by those who survived, built not on gold or glory, but on a shared resolve: never again would they be so helpless, nor dependent on the whims of adventurers. After Alovar’s departure, the remaining founders turned their focus toward militarization and the rapid expansion of the city’s Aetheryte industry, forging a bastion of strength from the ashes of ruin.

Government

The city is governed and led by the Diarchy Paragon’s Mork and Ellea who guide and decide the path of the city. They do this through the five Archon’s who each manage a separate industry within the city.

Economy

Duskveil’s economy is largely defined by its monopoly on a rare crystal flowing with magic called Aetheryte. While mana stones and magic gems are hardly rare they all contain to some extent chaotic wild magic imbued by the God of Fairies and Trickery Ambrosy . Aetheryte is special in that it doesn’t contain this wild magic making it ideal for the creation of magic items.

Climate

Temperate, with frequent misty mornings and occasional heavy rains due to coastal storms.
