Alturan
Alturan is a thriving city known for its deep commitment to craftsmanship, learning, and community. A large portion of the town has been left in it's natural state of dirt and trees. The town prioritized walking over horse travel making sure that almost all of the commodities in the town were sized appropriately to the average heights of the residents. There is a main road that has horse stables and commodities for those on horseback, however it is just the main street and the outskirts of the town that are built with horse riders in mind. Throughout the town there is enough natural shade and resting places for those who prefer to live without a house or are unfortunately unhoused.
A large town that spans along side part of the Esver sea, sitting in the Alturan Bay uplands surrounded by the Castore mountains. Trade by land is difficult since there is only one portion of the surrounding mountains that has a somewhat clear section but even that is difficult to traverse, this means most of the trade is done by sea.
The city is built around its many trade halls, artisan courtyards, and open-air studios, where people of all ages train in their chosen vocations. Apprenticeships, skill exchanges, and public demonstrations are woven into daily life, making the city feel like a living workshop. Sculptors, smiths, weavers, glassblowers, and artificers all contribute to the ever-evolving face of the city.
During the town's annual Maker-Fair a inexperienced runecrafter caused an explosion that demolished the east side of the city. Thankfully all attendants of the fair were required to wear protection runes which protected everyone from the blast, leaving the only damage to homes, businesses, and parks.
Kels Ambrin was the first person contacted to lead the reconstruction of the town. His mastery of mending and protection runes helped make Alturan safer, all but ensuring that if an explosion happened again, that everything in the vicinity would be spared along with the people. Although just the east side was damaged Kels went out of his way to craft more runes for the entire town. The mayor of Alturan dedicated the largest park in the town to Kels, though he just wanted to help out without the recognition.
The Maker-Fair
The Maker-Fair is the second biggest event in the country, the first going to the B.U.I.L.D. event which is the largest event in the world. The Maker-Fair brings in people from all over the country, from the runecrafters of Tolbrin's Spine to the shipbuilders of Corswich. Many masters of their respective crafts bring along apprentices to either assist in parts running or to be center stage making and selling what they can do. Beings from all ages are exploring and making. Many stalls offer small workshops for children too young to take part, these workshops are relatively simple and aren't allowed to be magic driven, mostly woodworking or arts.
