Lunara - Moon of Order, Oaths, and Community
LUNARA – MOON OF ORDER, OATHS, COMMUNITY
Themes:
- Law, order, civic structure, precedent
- Oaths, contracts, vows, sworn bonds
- Community, mutual duty, shared defense
A Lunara Cleric is:
- Magistrate‑priest, oath‑warden, community organizer
- Bridge between secular law and divine order
- In play: strong buffs, control through compulsion/command, protection, and “we hold the line together” support
Visually: brightest and largest moon; clergy favor white, silver, and deep blue, with lanterns, scales, and ring‑seals as motifs.
LUNARA DOMAIN FEATURES BY LEVEL
These features stack with your base Lunar Cleric chassis.
Level 1 – Domain Spells & Warden of Oaths
Domain Spells
Always prepared; don’t count against prepared spells.
- 1st:bless, command
- 3rd:zone of truth, hold person
- 5th:beacon of hope, spirit guardians (as oath‑spirits or ancestral wardens)
- 7th:guardian of faith, banishment
- 9th:dispel evil and good, hallow
This list focuses on authority, protection, and enforced order.
Warden of Oaths
You are consecrated as a witness and keeper of promises.
- You gain proficiency in Insight or Persuasion (your choice).
- You have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks to:
- Detect lies involving promises, contracts, or sworn statements.
- Sense when someone is concealing a serious breach of duty.
- Sanctify Oath (Ritual):
- You can spend 10 minutes witnessing an oath, contract, or sworn pact.
- For the next 30 days:
- If any sworn participant knowingly, willfully breaks that oath:
- You immediately feel a sharp, directionless pull (you know that a sanctified oath was broken, but not automatically by whom or where).
- The breaker has disadvantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made to justify, excuse, or conceal that violation from you or other Lunara‑attuned clergy.
This makes Lunara clerics the gold standard for binding agreements.
Level 2 – Channel Divinity: Voice of Judgment
You gain a Lunara‑specific Channel Divinity option.
Channel Divinity: Voice of Judgment
You speak with Lunara’s full authority, and lies falter on the tongue.
- As an action, you choose any number of creatures within 30 ft that can hear you.
- Each target must make a Wisdom saving throw vs your spell save DC.
On a failure:
- For 1 minute (no concentration):
- The creature is under a compulsion to truthful speech:
- When it attempts to speak a deliberate lie, the words come out twisted and halting.
- Mechanically:
- It has disadvantage on Charisma (Deception) checks, and
- Creatures listening have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks to detect its lies or evasions.
- If, within the last year, the creature broke a sworn oath or formal contract:
- While affected by Voice of Judgment, it also has:
- Disadvantage on attack rolls against you and your allies.
On a success: the creature is unaffected by this use of Voice of Judgment.
You expend one use of Channel Divinity to invoke this power.
Level 3 – (Base: Secondary Moon Influence I)
No Lunara‑specific feature here; you choose your first secondary moon.
Level 4 – (Base ASI)
Level 5 – Oathbound Mark
At 5th, Lunara lets you single out one creature for focused, lawful pressure.
Oathbound Mark
You can bind a creature as your current subject of judgment.
- When you:
- Hit a creature with a weapon attack, or
- A creature fails a saving throw against one of your spells,
- You can choose to mark it as Oathbound (no action required).
Rules:
- You can have only one Oathbound creature at a time.
- The mark lasts for 24 hours or until you mark a different creature.
- While a creature is Oathbound:
- You gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls against it.
- The first time each turn it targets one of your allies (not you) with an attack or harmful spell:
- It takes 1d8 radiant damage (no save), as Lunara’s sanction burns it.
- You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) and Wisdom (Survival) checks to notice or track it.
Uses:
- You can apply Oathbound Mark a number of times per long rest equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum 1).
Level 6 – Channel Divinity: Shield of the Community
At 6th, you gain a second Channel option focused on protection through solidarity.
Channel Divinity: Shield of the Community
You draw a circle of mutual defense around your people.
- As a bonus action, you invoke Lunara’s mantle for 1 minute (concentration).
- You and allies of your choice within 30 ft of you gain:
- A +1 bonus to AC, and
- A +1 bonus to all saving throws.
In addition:
- When a creature under this effect within 30 ft of you is:
- Reduced to 0 hit points by damage,
- You can use your reaction to:
- Have that creature instead drop to 1 hit point, and
- Immediately move up to 10 ft toward them (this movement does not provoke opportunity attacks).
You expend one use of Channel Divinity to call the Shield.
Level 7 – (Base: Secondary Moon Influence II)
No extra Lunara feature.
Level 8 – (Base ASI)
Level 9 – Civic Bulwark
At 9th, your protective influence over communities becomes tangible.
Civic Bulwark
Your power strengthens when you defend rightful domains.
- While you are within a settlement, temple, fortress, or other defended community (GM adjudication), you and allies within 10 ft gain:
- Advantage on saving throws vs being charmed or frightened.
- Advantage on saving throws vs being forcibly moved (pushed, pulled, or knocked prone by effects).
Once per long rest, you can declare a Sanctuary of Law:
- As an action, designate a 30‑ft‑radius area centered on a point you can see within 60 ft.
- For 10 minutes (no concentration):
- Hostile creatures that enter the area or start their turn there must make a Wisdom saving throw vs your spell DC.
- On a failure:
- Their speed is halved until the start of their next turn, and
- They cannot take the Dash action that turn.
- This represents the spiritual “drag” of Lunara’s order on violent intrusion.
Level 10 – Lunar Intervention (Base)
Mechanics as per the Lunar Cleric class. Under Lunara, interventions might look like:
- A spectral lantern flare revealing hidden weapons in a negotiation.
- A sudden tightening of a crowd that stops a fleeing criminal.
- A shimmering ward that turns a lethal blow into a glancing one.
Level 11 – Lantern of the Just
At 11th, your presence becomes a steadying beacon.
Lantern of the Just
- While you are conscious, you emit a 10‑ft‑radius aura of calm order.
- Allies in the aura:
- Gain a +1 bonus to all saving throws.
- When they succeed on a death saving throw, they also:
- Immediately regain 1 hit point and can stand up (no movement cost), but only once per creature per long rest.
This makes your party much harder to wipe out, especially in defensive positions.
At 18th level, this aura will expand and improve.
Level 12 – (Base ASI)
Level 13 – Law of Covenant
Thirteenth level deepens how your magic binds agreements.
Law of Covenant
- You have advantage on saving throws against:
- geas,
- Any spell or effect that would compel you to break an oath, betray your allies, or violate your established code.
- When you cast zone of truth:
- You can choose to make it a Covenant Zone.
- Any creature that, while inside the zone:
- Freely swears or signs an agreement (not under duress or mind control),
- Becomes bound by Lunara’s notice:
- For as long as the agreement reasonably applies, if the creature knowingly acts in direct violation of that covenant:
- It has disadvantage on all d20 rolls directly tied to that act of violation (attacks, checks, saves; GM adjudication).
- This is a soft curse of conscience and divine friction, not mind control.
Only one agreement per casting of Covenant Zone can be so empowered per creature.
Level 14 – (Base: Third Moon / Deeper Influence)
No additional Lunara‑specific feature.
Level 15 – Nightwatch Zenith (Base)
With Lunara, Nightwatch might manifest as:
- Perfect guard rotations and patrol routes that always intersect on time.
- Subtle, ghostly footfalls that alert you when someone crosses a boundary.
Mechanics remain as per your base Nightwatch feature.
Level 16 – (Base ASI)
Level 17 – Lunara’s Confluence
At 17th, your Lunar Confluence gains a Lunara‑specific rider.
Lunara’s Confluence
While Lunar Confluence is active (1 minute):
- Your Oathbound Mark intensifies:
- You and your allies have advantage on all attack rolls against the Oathbound creature.
- The Oathbound creature has disadvantage on all saving throws against your spells and Channel Divinity effects.
- Your radiant damage from Oathbound Mark increases to 2d8 per triggering hit during Confluence.
In addition, once during each Confluence:
- You can cast either:
- mass suggestion (flavored as a decree to stand down, surrender, or obey a lawful command), or
- hallow (centered on a point you can see),
- Without expending a spell slot.
- Mass suggestion cast this way:
- Creatures that can understand you have disadvantage on their initial save if your command is consistent with restoring order or protecting innocents (GM adjudication).
- Hallow cast this way:
- Takes effect immediately for the duration of Confluence (full ritual completion outside of combat is up to you/GM to decide, but this gives you a strong “drop a sacred zone” moment in a climactic scene).
Additionally:
- Once per round during Confluence, when a creature within 30 ft:
- Attempts to flee after previously agreeing to stand or parley, or
- Breaks a declared truce,
- You can use your reaction to:
- Move up to half your speed toward that creature (no opportunity attacks), and
- Make one weapon attack against it with advantage.
Level 18 – Pillar of the Commonweal
Your protective aura becomes truly formidable.
Pillar of the Commonweal
- Your Lantern of the Just aura radius increases to 30 ft.
- While you are conscious, allies in the aura:
- Gain resistance to psychic damage.
- Have advantage on saving throws vs charm, fear, and domination‑style effects (e.g., dominate person).
- Once per long rest, you can invoke Stand as One:
- As a bonus action, for 1 minute:
- When an ally within 30 ft takes damage:
- You can use your reaction to split that damage evenly between the ally and up to two other willing allies (including yourself) within 30 ft.
- Damage is divided (rounded down) and each creature takes its share; resistances apply individually.
- This represents the community literally sharing the blow so no single person falls.
This cements Lunara as the patron of mutual defense and shared burdens.
Level 19 – (Base ASI)
Level 20 – Lunar Avatar (Base)
Your generic Lunar Avatar capstone applies. For Lunara, it might look like:
- Bands of silver light forming a moving, celestial courthouse around you.
- Every ally under your gaze moving in perfect, disciplined coordination.
- Enemies feeling each step weighed as if by unseen scales.
Mechanics remain as per the base Lunar Avatar; this is flavor alignment.
