WorldEmber 2025 Homework

Homework for WorldEmber 2025

  1. Refresh your author profile to prepare for an influx of new readers - this one was more involved than I thought it would be. I knew that my profile was fairly bare, so it took me a while to add more details about me. Not sure if it will attract new readers, but I got it done.
  2. Define the scope of your world building for WorldEmber - I am concentrating on geography, bringing the world of Chendiuria to life. My focus will be in my Augmented Valor world and how it interacts with my heavily augmented bionic former Colonial Fleet Marine Myrmidon, Aditi “Adi” Nizhóní Peshlakai.
  3. I am working on two short stories featuring Adi to bring the character and her world to life.
  4. The first short story is about Adi's creative acquisition of a quantum neural matrix cyberbrain prototype from a black-market augmentation lab.
  5. The second story is Adi vs. Galatea (the statue brought to life by Pygmalion). Adi was sent by Kane through the shady broker Rat, in a second thief scenario where she is take a newer Italian marble statue of Galatea that weighs a little more than a 1,000 lbs.
  6. Read a book - this one is laughable for me as I read at least one book a day, sometimes two. I'm currently reading The Ice Limit by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
  7. Join the community - I despise Discord and have not been on there in several years. I was surprised that my account was still active.
  8. Plan your world-building playlist - I added this one just because I write often (even as I type this) with music playing. Depending on my mood, I can listen to everything from classic rock to heavy metal and several music types in between. Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen and AC/DC are particular favorites. I also listen to a lot of alternative rock with groups such as Disturbed, System of a Down, Harvey Danger, Volbeat, etc. Since I was a teen in the 1980s, hair rock (Poison, Twisted Sister, etc.) and arena rock (Foreigner, Def Leppard, etc.) are guilty pleasures. Despite living in the greater Seattle area, I never really got into grunge. About the only music I cannot listen to is rap.
