15th of Glyrird 741 F.   I finally managed to convince Coralla and Kyrissa to go forward on my research. It will finally allow us to take revenge on the land-dwellers who have been hunting us for years and years.   Coralla has provided me with two months to refine the spell with the ingredients that I currently have. If it succeeds, she said she’d consider allowing me to try it out on their next hunt.   This will secure our clans. I’m sure of it.

21st of Glyrird 741 F.   The experiments have been…difficult. It remains difficult to maintain to spell on a subject permanently, especially if they’re out of range. I will need to consider another route that doesn’t require me to be around consistently. After all, I’m not stepping foot on land just to make them suffer.

28th of Glyrird 741 F.   One of the subjects has died.

2nd of Kasdiel 741 F.   After the previous incident, I have resigned myself to the fact that this task has a heavy burden. We may lose quite a few of our kind whilst experimenting on this subject and this is a duty that I must bare alone. It’s for the greater good after all.

5th of Kasdiel 741 F.   Kyrissa has made a wonderful discovery – a leviathan. Just off the southern coral reefs. Her soldiers have managed to capture it and bring it to Sirelore. I have heard many tales of the great power behind them…nothing compares to seeing it in the flesh. The creature is easily 200 times my size – but probably just as feisty as me.   There is also a legend that if you consume the flesh of a leviathan, you will be cursed for harming such a noble creature.

9th of Kasdiel 741 F.   Kyrissa has found out about the number of casualties from this experiment. She’s backing out.   I can’t let her ruin her race’s future – Vedite, forgive me for this

15th of Kasdiel 741 F.   It’s surprisingly lonesome without Kyrissa bothering me as much. I must reassure myself that this is for the best – she would interfere with our protection.   I have refined the spell – the leviathan flesh works as a goods transmitter of the spell. It seems to warp the spell into a sickness, one that results in a high fever, bloody vomit, occasional hallucinations and some strange red marks on the forearms.   It eventually results in death...however, I have found a way to transmit the condition on.   If someone consumes the flesh of someone infected, they, too, will be infected. Land-dwellers love to hunt us to much, we will give them a feast they won’t forget.

29th of Kasdiel 741 F.   Coralla has approved the weapon. She stated that she has made her best hunters aware of a new weapon against the land-dwellers. She has specifically asked me not to infect them with the condition, but I am able to take my pick of sirens to infect and send to the surface for their ‘hunt’.   The amount of support we have right now is amazing – Coralla has managed to convince them of the truth. And with me controlling Kyrissa, there’s no obstacles in my way.

19th of Tlyhint 741 F.   The past few months have seen a steady flow of infected sirens heading to the surface and being killed. I have a source from the surface (an unfortunate land-dweller who was obsessed with Avavia and fathered her half-breed children) that states that the humans have begun to see infections spreading, officially naming it ‘Blood Fever’.   It’s rather fitting.

2nd of Trolist 761 F.   Coralla has lost one of her best hunters – they were caught during a hunt when they shouldn’t have been. Coralla fails to understand that with the deaths of those half-breeds, we will be safer from invading land-dwellers. She can get more hunters.   However, she began to demand that I hand over my research, so she could use it herself. I refused. This is my work, after all. It resulted in a conflict between us, which because of, I had to declare a separation from Azuri. Sirelore and Azuri are officially enemies now.

17th of Awust 765 F.   I have been studying the lasting effects of this ‘Blood Fever’. It seems that not only does it transfer over consummation of infected flesh, but those who had the condition can also pass it onto their young. It’s resulted in quite the decimation on land, multiple families wiped out and they still do not know the cause or a cure.   My scientific curiosity wishes to study a pregnant subject – to see how this affects them and their young. However, it is extremely difficult to get my subjects to respond to me nowadays, let alone trying to initiate sexual relations with each other. This may have to be based on hypotheticals for now.   Speaking of cures, I have been playing with the idea of one just in case something spreads throughout Sirelore (after all, Avavia wasn’t the only siren to sleep with a land-dweller so who knows what they could bring back on us). However, magic has no effect on the condition and medicines don’t seem to remove the condition, at all. It at best, alleviates the symptoms but does not remove them. It effectively makes it a less painful death.   There may be an approach to keep the sickness at bay, however. I will have to explore this further.
