The Awakened Tongues

Structure
The Awakened Tongues is separated out into many different factions, each with their own leaders and followers.
Each faction has a ‘Likkuswxy’ (Abyssal for ‘Commander’) who arranges each faction’s meetings and celebrations. The true identity of the Likkuswxy is always kept a secret - this could be done by them never attend any meetings; wearing a mask to the meetings or even send representatives on their behalf.
The followers of the Likkuswxy are called ‘Judyis’ (patron in Abyssal) - who, in exchange for financial support, are allowed to join the organisation. Generally, their roles are to provide financial support to the groups and to find ‘prey’ for the meetings and celebrations. However, the search for ‘prey’ is usually conducted by the Judyis’ servants - rarely ever by themselves.
Public Agenda
The Awakened Tongues believe that to obtain true power - you need to act like a demonic entity. Demons consume souls and grow stronger as a result - most mortals cannot consume should but they can consume flesh.
Some groups go beyond the simple belief that they should just consume flesh in order to become a demon - some actually try to summon or become possess by a demon in their search for power.
Assets
Each faction has a range of different assets. The full extent of what they have is unknown, as nobody knows exactly who is part of the organisation. It could extend from nothing to political and financial power.
History
The true history of the group is limited - as this group is secret and restricted to those who can afford to join and have the right connections. However, mentions of the group originate around 564 E. It seems originally the group was strongly attached to events associated with vampires and many historians believe this is where the obsession with cannibalism began. Though vampires rarely ever fully engage in complete cannibalism, they were a theoretical starting point to the development of The Awakened Tongues.
Since then, the mentions of the group have only been found in exposed documents from court cases throughout the years. Most notably from Caelian Strongwind - who was imprisoned for tax evasion and first degree murder in 450 F. And executed in 452 F. Even in the mentioned document, however, it only mentioned the group by name and the list of people Caelian had order to be executed by cannibalism within his faction. The local authorities in Thaycia had tried searching for any further member of the group after the trial, but never found any information.
In Grifiya Valfina’s autobiography, published in 978 F., she mentions a group of cannibals who were running the only hotel in Fraenia designated for foreigners. She never mentions if they were an organisation or even related to The Awakened Tongues, but many historians believe that this was one of many factions of The Awakened Tongues. No one knows what happened to those employees after the Fraenian dictatorship was overthrown.
Mythology & Lore
The Awakened Tongues reportedly believes in the existence of demons within society. They associate mysterious deaths and disappearances with demons who have consumed a mortal’s soul and left their body to disappear or rot. These demons were never huge figures and never sought overt power - but instead possessed average mortals and manipulated their way into subtle power.
Followers of this believe aim to become demons - either by possession or mentally by consuming the flesh of mortals as a substitute for the soul which is harder to consume.
