Balthazar Outcast

Old Balthazar, the grumpy dwarf, has lived in Afon longer than anyone can remember.   When he was but a young dwarf, Balthazar went by the name of Dobinwald Stoneshaker. Dobinwald was always headstrong, even for a dwarf, and refused to listen to any orders that he failed to agree with. However, this inability for him to show respect where it was due would soon seal his fate.   During a dark elf raid on his home, Dobinwald ignored his orders to secure a specific tunnel and instead joined in the fray--for he sought glory that day. That dwarven glory, however, would never come to Dobinwald, for due to his neglect of the tunnel, while the defenders were fighting, the families were being slaughtered. Hundreds died that day that would have otherwise been safe, had it not been for a glory starved young dwarf--now a dwarf no more.   Outcast from his clan, Balthazar took on a new name and set off in search of adventure and glory. He traveled far and wide while performing many grand deeds, yet he never was able to forget the tragedy that he caused.   Balthazar eventually built a small farm for himself along a river. This farm would one day become the small community of Afon.
