Having once been apart of the honor centric nation of Dungar, one might think Kurth would have a similar disposition. The reality in fact, is much different. That isn't to say that Kurthites are without honor, they just simply do not put it above all else. It is this core belief that separates the two nations more than anything. Kurthites pledge fealty to a Lord for little more reason than the title he holds. A notion that would make even the youngest Dungarian cringe in disgust. Men and women are forced into military service in order to maintain a good standing with their Lord; taught to fight for their Lord's honor rather than their own. And most do so willingly. An uninformed individual might think this makes the people of Kurth weaker, inferior even, to their neighbors. How can a nation that fights for one man overpower a nation that fights for themselves. And Kurthites will let them believe it...let the world believe them to be the little brother nipping at the heals of their older brother. But if the people love their ruler...they would do anything for them. And Kurthites love their Lord...for whatever reason.Noble and Notable Families and Houses

Government
Feudal Absolute Monarchy
- A system of land ownership and duties common to medieval Europe. Under feudalism, all the land in a kingdom belonged to the king. However, the king would give some of the land to the lords or nobles who fought for him. These presents of land were called manors. Then the nobles gave some of their land to vassals. The vassals then had to do duties for the nobles. The lands of vassals were called fiefs. The monarch exercises ultimate governing authority as head of state and head of government.
Foreign Relationships
Kurth maintains a strong alliance with Tyvora and the Grand Duchess. Where other nations often view Tyvora as a pseudo nation, the Lord of Kurth holds them in high regard as an ally. Most of their trade is with Tyvora, with the exception of their salt production which is distributed worldwide. Kurth also maintains an interesting relationship with their neighbor Dungar. Not quite allies yet not quite enemies...some believe the Lord of Kurth once sat on the Supreme Council of Dungar. Why he suceeded however, remains a mystery.Defences

History
Once apart of the then larger nation of Dungar, the Lord of Kurth formally announced Kurth's secession from Dungar in 1880 CM. At just 99 years old, Kurth is the youngest established nation in Athunis. It is said that the Lord of Kurth was once a member of the Supreme Council of Dungar and his reason for succession is still unclear; as is his subjects willingness to follow him. There are several theories about why the separation occurred; from murder to adultery and everything in between. Unfortunately no one aside from the Lord of Kurth himself can speak to his reasons for the separation; he keeps to his abode, Kurth's Keep, and rarely makes appearances in public to his subjects. One would have a better chance learning answers of the cosmos from Auppenser himself...
Geography
Kurth is located in the Northern and Eastern hemispheres. It is positioned between the Silver Gulf to the Northwest and the Bloodstained Bay to the Southwest. It borders Dungar to the East, separated by the Great Salt River and the Lake of Salt.
The Northern third of Kurth is dominated by mountains and forest; the Serpent's Tail Bluffs and Brushbrooke Forest respectively. West Kurth is dominated by strong rolling hills and two other rivers flow from the Bluffs into the Lake of Salt. Interestingly enough, these other rivers are fresh water...how the lake and largest river came to be salt water is a mystery lost to time.
