Culture

If the people of Amn are the epitome of a supercilious people, Bambronians are a close second. The biggest difference between the two is their value of faith and tradition in all things. Where Amn works like a business, Bambryn works like an Aristocracy. Bloodlines are more important than anything to the Bambronians; to the ones residing in Lochfort anyway...The 24 noble houses that rule over Bambryn today have done so since it's founding almost one thousand years ago. There is no greater insult than to insult ones blood; doing so often results in someone's being spilled.

Government

Federal Aristocracy
  • Central government is ruled by the nobility; a system of governance where political power is in the hands of a small class of privileged individuals who claim a higher birth than the rest of society. Local power is formally divided between the central authority (Council of the Loch) and a number of constituent regions (cities and towns) so that each region retains some degree of control over its internal affairs. The Council of the Loch has overall say in what happens, if they choose…though they often leave the cities and towns to their own devices; they are more concerned with themselves inside the walls of Lochfort.

Foreign Relationships

Bambryn does not maintain any strong relationships with other nations, preferring to remain neutral in most matters. They would much rather remain removed and concern themselves with the happenings of the Loch.

History

Bambryn was founded in 1027 CM by the ancestors of the 24 noble houses that sit on the Council of the Loch in Lochfort. These families have maintained control over the nation for more than 900 years...an impressive feat to be sure. As the world has changed though, so have the people in charge. In it's infancy, the Bambronian noble families served not only their kin, but all of Bambryn. For the last several generations however, this service has shifted more to the former than the latter. The noble families and those that pledge fealty to them reside primarily in Lochfort, locked behind massive walls erected to segregate the nation. This segregation has led to severe disparities between the nobles and common people and occasionally riots have roared through the cities and towns of Bambryn, gathering forces to march on Lochfort and overthrow the noble families. However, in every instance of coup has been stopped in its tracks outside the city thanks to the lake that Lochfort resides within. Some say the city in impregnable...

Geography

Bambryn is located South of Helmsdale across the Gemstone Peaks. It is surrounded by the Restless Pass to the East, the Frozen Shelves to the South, and the Misty Wharf to the West.    The landscape consists of a large coniferous forest called the Misty Veil (aptly named because of the thick mist and constantly permeates through the trees) and grasslands with a river and two large lakes in the Northern majority of the nation. The Southern quarter of Bambryn is covered in snow and ice by the uninhabited Pearl Drift.
