Common Belief

The most common belief held is that the world was formed by the Gods pulling energy from all the different realms to create the Prime world as a mix of all the various planes. In doing so, the Gods however lost much of their power as it faded over the centuries until the Gods retreated from the world to rest and recover their powers, leaving their powerful followers in charge.

The Radiant Dawn

The common religious belief is the Gods formed the world as a way to try and combine the natures of the separate planes into a single, unified plane. The Darker Gods however corrupted the creation, giving rise to evil mortals and dark monsters within the world. The Gods spent Ages trying to resolve these issues, but evil still remained upon the world. Followers of the Radiant Dawn believe that Gods departed to find a solution to rid the world of darkness and evil, and will return one day to bring peace to the world.

The Order of Saint Lyra

The Order believes that life is an mutation upon Athoria and the world in its pure state would maintain the base elements alone. They do not believe life is evil in its creation, it is another element in a way, but throws the others out of balance. Their belief was that the elements were balanced in harmony when the world was formed between the other realms before outside influences changed the world's state. They believe the Gods have departed as the world is corrupted beyond their original influence and no longer care for the people who live upon it.

Origin of Darkmyre

A darker theory was that the world was created by the rifts that present themselves across it, energy coming through from other planes to combine into the current realm. A rift to the Beyond brought a entity of dark power to the world which began changing it before the Gods came to the world and pushed this being, known as the Darkmyre, back to its home realm. When the Gods departed from the world, it was to face another or the same dark energy that threatened the world before.

Battle of the Gods

There is another belief that the world was formed first, and the other realms were a side effect creation. The Gods created the world to their desires, but the conflicting desires of the Gods caused excess energy to conflict and break free into the other realms. These realms created by certain Gods took on those God's Essences and became themed upon the Gods themselves. People who believe in this origin usually follow the belief that the Gods departed the world to continue their battles and squabbles among themselves in other worlds.

The Grand Reunion

This group's belief comes from the ideal that the other planes and the prime world used to be one whole before being separated apart by the Gods. They believe that the Rifts are the world trying to return to its 'true' state of all realms within one plane.

It is common knowledge and undisputed that the Gods departed the realms several centuries ago. With their presence gone, the truth of the Origins were never shared, and the reason for their departure is only know to their closest divine host, which are not telling mortals anytime soon.   Most beliefs involve the Rifts to other Planes as a standard for the believe, as the rifts have been a part of Athoria as long as recorded history has been kept.

Common Belief

This believe if generally accepted and has no hard opposition beyond those who have a hatred of the Gods.  

The Radiant Dawn

This belief is accepted as an idyllic creation myth, where benevolent Gods seek to protect the world from the darkness within, mixed with the optimistic attitude that they will one day return. As such, any individual will follow the belief if they have an optimistic enough world view, where as scholars and researchers are more dubious of its ideal scenario.  

The Order of Saint Lyra

The Order's belief is not rejected in itself for the creation of the perfect plane, but the actions they take to purify the world back to this state is often met with mistrust and fear. Some individual outside the Order share the belief of the perfectly balanced world but do not share the Order's desire to Purify the World.  

Origin of Darkmyre

The Belief in Darkmyre is a often poorly accepted belief by the common folk. The idea of a dark power able to enter the world that was enough of a threat to challenge the Gods is a worrying thought for most people. Scholars and the well Educated are open to the idea as a theoretical concept, although most study such with some concern if not a true believer.  

Battle of the Gods

This belief is shunned by the religious, as they do not believe the Gods would devolve to the petty squabbles similar to how mortals do. Scholars once again are willing to study this as a theory, although it is hard to prove or disprove due to the departure of the Gods.  

The Grand Reunion

This belief is not rejected due to its origin, in fact some scholars theorize it may be the correct origin of the world. However, it is largely rejected due to the followers of the Grand Reunion's often attempts at opening rifts to return the world to its 'true' state, causing chaos and damage to the surroundings.
