Diplomatic action
This historic battle between the dragons and dragon slayers who meant to overthrow them began with an attempted peace treaty, but erupted into war when an orcish lieutenant slew Vahlokdov, king of the dragons.
This battle is known by many names. To the mortals who rebelled against the dragons and slew them without mercy, it is the Clash of Tooth and Sword. To the dragons, it is Grah do Mahlaan Jun - the Battle of Fallen King. To those who know the stories of Dovzugrah, it is Krosis do Drem - the Sorrow of Peace. Years before, Dovzugrah, the son of Ghorza, leader of the dragon slayers, defected from his families cause, unwilling to participate in violence that he thought senseless. At the same time, Ruvaak, a young black dragon, defected from her ranks. The two, drawn together by fate, bonded as dragon and rider. Dozugrah and Ruvaak spoke to their respective sides and convinced them to discuss the terms of a treaty. The dragons and dragon slayers gathered at the Tortured Land in northern Faerûn. As Ghorza and Vahlokdov approached one another, they were wary but relieved. Both knew the war would result in mutually assured destruction. Both wanted an end to the violence. But before terms could be discussed, Ghorza's lieutenant, overcome with rage, let a dragon-killing arrow loose and pierced Vahlokdov's skull. Ghorza attempted to keep the peace but she was struck down by jagged claw. With the life seeping from their bodies, Ghorza and Vahlokdov shared one last look - one of sadness, for they knew how much blood was soon to water the earth beneath them. The casualties on both sides were immense, but was a victory for the dragon slayers and turned the war in their favour. Ruvaak was killed in the battle but Dovzugrah survived, and although he begged for peace in the years to come, his words fell on deaf ears.
