Sylvos
The gnarled bark shifts and buckles, opening wide, and from within the confines of this diseased tree comes a thing. It almost resembles a deer, but its forelegs are freakishly long and it has a hunched figure that gives it a humanoid appearance. Its antlers are enormous, draped with moss and crusted with lichen and decorated with strings of bones that clank together in a discordant melody. It has two heads: one a deer with dark, knowing eyes; the other human-like with a wooden mask face. It speaks, and its voice is like a deep rumble and the sigh of wind through branches and bones crunching underfoot. It lumbers towards you with a contented sigh. "My friend, you're finally here. I am so glad you’re here. Please, put your heavy burdens down. Sit. Rest a while. Close your weary eyes and sleep.”Sylvos is a minor deity, patron god of the long since abandoned city of Eldarin. It's domain is the bones that slumber underfoot and the forests that sprout from them, whose tenets are as follows: honour the bones of your ancestors; in your prayers, think of the beautiful things that sprout from buried bodies; consider the life that comes from death. Sylvos was worshipped by the Bosmer for centuries until the inhabitants of the city were almost entirely wiped out. Eldarin was abandoned and a distraught Sylvos retreated into a deep slumber. Its celestial magic preserved the city in an underground cavern, where the buildings would only be ravaged by time. Although the bosmer were long extinct, Sylvos aimed to continue their traditions by burying bodies in the earth so that life may continue to flourish. It would emerge from its slumber every few centuries to lure travellers and creatures down into the city, whereupon it would charm them and bury them alive. Sylvos was slain by the party after attempting to sacrifice them in the same manner.
