Hermaeus Mora

(a.k.a. The All Knowing One)

An impossible darkness appears in the air, a suspended opening into another realm, and from within come reaching, oily, tenebrous tentacles. A low noise rumbles, like laughter, and the dull rustling of parchment accompanies the nearly incomprehensible voice that speaks.
"Tell me, mortal. What unknowable knowledge do you seek?"
The tentacles squirm, and at the centre of their writhing mass, a single eye slowly opens. It is wide, ever-staring, holding galaxies within its dark pupil. You were such a fool to ever think you could stare into its depths and retain any shred of sanity.
Hermaeus Mora is the deity of knowledge. He is worshipped by the Cult of Hermaeus Mora.

Tenets of Faith

The most important tenants transcribed from the Oghma Infinium are as follows:
  • Knowledge shall be made available to all. The lowliest slave and the highest lord shall seek divine truths from the tomes of the All Knowing One.
  • Knowledge is dangerous. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is unwavering. Treat it kindly and with respect.
  • Some words may twist your mind. Read another page. Some may hurt your body. Read another page. Some may wipe the knowing of reading from you. Read another page.

Holy Artefacts

The Oghma Infinium is an ancient artefact purportedly bestowed upon followers of the deity who show their utmost devotion to the pursuit of knowledge. Mere excerpts from the book have been copied down over the centuries, before the owner was driven mad by its contents.
