Worldbuilding notes
Technology level: easily 99% of the known world could be considered “Wild west era with magic” tech has fallen back a lot, there are trains that run the continent, but no planes yet, and non-magical communication is slooooow. Electricity MOSTLY exists, but a good amount of places (especially residences) cannot afford it, especially after the Red Army invasion.
For the most part, the new adventurers don’t have much knowledge of the previous Sins campaign, other than the news that big events have happened, like the explosion of Red Larch.
After the last campaign, the adventurers went their own way to support their own goals. Pride and Perurun have been travelling northward for a couple of months, until winter has set in.
12 month years, 3 month season, much our world. Where this takes place, it is a very seasonal place, if not cold, as it begins in the northern Miotian town of Porthvallen. Year Structure (the names are mostly universal on the plane, as 99% of conversation is in Common):
Miri (Deep winter) -- January
Vesh (Less deep winter) -- February
Arren (Beginning of spring) -- March
Astra (Spring) -- April
Kesh (Spring - Summery) -- May
Lorn (Summer) -- June
Valcus (Deep summer) -- July
Halin (More summer!) -- August
Chianne (Summer into fall) -- September
Gauith (Fall) -- October
Maveen (Fall - Winter) -- November
Malea (Deep winter) -- December
The previous campaign took place around the end of Chianne, and the current one starts in the heart of Miri.
Not much is known from pre-Cataclysm, save for certain people. Perurun knows the story of how the Spirit Queen came to power, but her knowledge ends there.
The Sins are the leaders of the Red Army, but mostly under their own desires and desires, and almost totally autonomous save a few.
Pride: Large Lion-like Tabaxi man who is travelling with Perurun. Has his own agendas, but is mostly a peaceful person. He and Perurun have taken up residence in Porthvallen, simply as travellers.
Gluttony: A black Pudding like creature that eats anything in its path, creating duplicates and assuming the shape of what it feels like. Its few sightings in the recent few months put it in the shape of a Hill Giant-like creature.
Lust: Possibly the best known Sin, but not by the name of Lust. His name he goes by is Zolgeth, and leads a band called the Seven Snakes. Last seen before the destruction of Red Larch
Greed: Perurun and Pride are intimately familiar with this one. He was once known as a Harper named Sodiro, eventually revealing himself as the Sin of Greed. He has not been seen since he proclaimed his return to Dreadstone Peak, in Matriot.
Envy: No data known
Sloth: No data known
Wrath: The only data known on this is the entire country of Ath is ran by an entity who calls themself Wrath, and is one of the most fortified areas for the Red Army.
The pre-Cataclysm knowledge that Perurun knows comes from a green emerald-looking jewel she keeps on a gauntlet she wears on her right hand, she never removes this gauntlet in public.
Intercontinental travel is rare and highly regulated. You could not really do any traveling unless you were part of a company or the government.
A little about the geography
Miotia
Where the story begins
Mostly quiet, and little Red Army activity in this area.
Also no known Harper or rebellious entities here.
Primary export: heavy mining opportunities.
Capital: Twille
Starting city: Porthvallen
Mining town
Notable Locations:
Bakery: Ben Yay Beignets
Tavern: Red’s
Proprietor: Red - Dwarf woman
Matriot
Not a particularly safe place in general. Most of the Red Army’s prison structure is here, and then there is the aptly named Dreadstone Peak, home of Greed’s army of dragons and dragonriders.
Primary export: trade
Capital: Grevial
Amereth
Most of the pre-Cataclysm knowledge is here.
Capital of most everything
Trade, commerce, etc.
Tolvian Academy of Magic is here
Capital: Leanstra
Ath
Not much is known outside of rumors.
Very North Korea-ish
Rumored home of the Red Army
Xaz
Most of the cities here are on the coast.
Experiments on travel
Capital: Gilian
Marteth
A lot of Harpers Guild and rebellion in this area, leading to a very war-torn and divided country. The capital is currently mostly a puppet-state for the Red Army due to the acts of the Harpers and other rebellions.
Temperate / Warm climate
Forested
Most of the wood and 90% of nature magic users originate from here.
Rumors of portals to the Feywild (the Nature Realm) are hare, certainly most of the ey-creatures come from this
The northern coast is called the Sword Coast
TBH this is the most “forgotten realms” place here, and most of the previous Wizard of the Coast content would have taken place here, and that’s the reason I’m not going to have much of this season in this area.
-capital: Spiritglen
Kortioth
The warmest place on the continent. Though climate varies going from the balmy south to a somewhat redwood forest-like area to the north.
Lizardfolk of this continent come from here
Common exports: hard lumber, precious stones, oil
Capital: Tal’iv
Vevestia
Really the only country in Xuocellis that anything or anyone travelling is from.
Normally a pretty tropical place, especially toward the coast, but prone to hurricanes.
Lots of tropical fruits and items lead this place to be pretty prosperous.
Very very little Red Army here, and it’s mostly a diplomatic measure.
King Vevest (inherited title) is the ruling party here, a very famous half-elf ex-adventurer from before the Red Army invasion.
Capital: Purain
