Duke Theran Vidall
Your Grace Theran Darius Vidall (a.k.a. The Duke)
Duke Vidall is the current ruler of the Grand Duchy of Rilara. He is generally received well by the members of the Free People's Alliance, though some have criticized him for being a bit too bellicose with Rilara's neighbor, Urelia, but that cannot be fully blamed on him. Theran is the cousin of King Marius Vidall of Urellia, and the two have never gotten along, as there is so much inherited trauma and baggage.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
He is average height and his frame is fairly lean to the point where some wondwer how he is able to bear the armor he wears. He is in good physical form, and his agility is the pride of the royal family. The rest of his features are rather unassuming, and he find it rather wasy to go incognito amongst the populace.
Facial Features
His face has an angular shape with a gently pointed chin. His hair falls in gentle curls framing a strong jawline and mid-high cheekbones. He has mananged to keep his face free of scars for the most part, though he does have one ear small than the other as an arrow narrowly missed his face and took a piece of his ear with it.
Specialized Equipment
He had a special diadem constructed that allows him to read the minds of those who apporach him, and his blade is enchanted with special protections that will shield him from threats. He also has a custom suit of armor that is modified with enchantments of his won creation.

Personal history
From a young age, he toured around the duchy with his parents and siblings. He was given the lay of the land and told the importance of getting to know the people that one ruled as well as learning how to defende them. He leanrned some of the early lessons in diplomacy that would shape him later in life. Upon his return to the capital he poured himself into his studies, waiting for the time when he could join the local scriptorium and then potenatially the diplomatic corps; however, tradition had other plans for him. Like any ducal heir, he had to have some martial experience and he was trained as a spellsword. He was competent, though he started to learn more towrds a wizardly avocation. Once he completed his toru of service and finished his classes at the military academy, he did his service in the mines and the local guilds before finally being able to join a trade delegation. He got to travel to Trimara, Jawhara, the Crescent Kingdoms, and even far off Isaria. He was a phenomenal negotiator and the Caravansery was sad to lose Theran to the diplomatic corps. It was at that point he was given the unenviable task of negatioating a new treaty with Urellia.

Education
He is a highly educated individual, and, like most of his family, he showed magical aptitude and was trained at the SwordSpell Academy. while he has not shown the same apptitude or herorics as his predecessors, he has shown considerable skill, though he can only be considered an average to good general. Where he showed the most acument was in administration. He was schooled in how to run a country, how to engender support, and how to be a competent diplomat.
Employment
As any ducal prince, he had to train with the soldiery and serve in the army ofr a certain period. Then he had to take a tour of the mines and take a short apprenticeship, so that he would better understand how the workers operate. This took a while as the dwarf leaders in the mines do not cut corners or lower their expectations, even for a duke. Recruits must succeed on their own merits. He also briefly joined the artisans guild, the caravansery, and the diplomatic corps. The latter was where his talents truly shined.

Family Ties
He has ties to Vidallos clan, a distaff offshoot of the vidall clan, and he also has ties to the families in Gardernwald as well as the outer colonies. However, his most famous connection is to the royal family in Urellia.
Religious Views
He does not oppose the worship of any deity bar the fiends of the pit and of Baator, but he does subscribe to the church of the Raven Queen. The mistress of fate holds a special place to him because she is the benign lady of death. All are equal in her eyes, and as along as one acts truly, her pyschopomps will ensure your soul gets to where it needs to be.
Social Aptitude
Theran Vidal is quite social adept. Some are even jealous of his ability seemingly effortlessly control a room. He has this almost disarming charm that draws people in and gets them to agree with him. Some dignataries are seen being visibly annoyed after they have been unknowingly convinced to join in. denfense pact or a trade deal.
