The Collector

The Procurer of Temptations, The Archivist of All Worlds, The Trickster.

The Collector is a figure of endless intrigue and subtle manipulation within the Feywild. Known for his boundless ambition and cunning, he collects anything—or anyone—that piques his interest. Be it a legendary artifact, a rare life form, or even an entire civilization’s secrets, nothing is beyond his grasp. Yet, The Collector is no common thief; he acquires his treasures through calculated trades, offering goods, dreams, or promises that are all but irresistible. With an alluring smile and an offer too tempting to refuse, The Collector ensnares his targets in webs of their own desires.   Tales of The Collector span across the Material Plane, the Feywild, and beyond. To some, he is a benefactor—a giver of dreams and prosperity. To others, he is a calamity, a cunning trickster who leaves ruin in his wake. Regardless of the perspective, his legend endures, whispered in the tales of mortals and immortals alike.     The Procurer of Temptations.
The Collector is most notorious for the methods by which he expands his collection. Never one to take by force, he instead masterfully orchestrates trades that his targets find impossible to resist. His golden calling card, intricately laced with shimmering patterns that glimmer under light, serves as both an invitation and a warning. Each card contains a tailored offer, uniquely crafted to appeal to its recipient’s deepest desires—be it wealth, power, freedom, or a lost love.   To accept his offer, one must recite the personal phrase inscribed on the card’s reverse. At that moment, The Collector will appear, offering a bargain so carefully calculated that refusal feels unthinkable. His transactions are often seen as fair on the surface, but they come with subtle, unforeseen consequences. In granting mortal dreams, The Collector ensures he always comes out ahead, his collection enriched while his “customers” are left to navigate the fallout of their choices.   Among his most notorious bargains, The Collector sometimes offers mortals a chance to draw from the fabled Deck of Many Things. The results of these deals are as varied as they are unpredictable—some recipients gain great fortune, while others face ruin or worse. These exchanges have cemented The Collector’s reputation as both a benefactor and a malevolent trickster, depending on the outcome.     The Archivist of All Worlds.
Deep within the Feywild lies The Collector’s gallery, a place as extraordinary as its master. This hidden sanctuary, constantly shifting through the ever-changing Feywild, has never been found by accident. Its location is a mystery, moving as if the land itself conspires to keep it hidden. Tales describe the gallery as a marvel of meticulous grandeur. Artifacts of unimaginable rarity sit on pedestals of enchanted crystal; books containing lost and forbidden knowledge line towering shelves; and cages, crafted with luxurious materials, house living creatures displayed as trophies of his ever-growing collection.   The magical artifacts displayed here are as diverse as they are awe-inspiring. From swords forged by long-dead gods to orbs that contain entire pocket dimensions, each artifact pulses with an aura of power that captivates all who gaze upon them. Some items are rumored to bend time and space, while others are said to hold secrets capable of unmaking reality itself. These treasures are carefully preserved and shielded behind layers of enchantments, their power kept dormant yet tantalizingly close to the surface.   The gilded cages, laced with shimmering Feywild metals, add another layer of intrigue to his gallery. Housing rare animals, magical beasts, and even people, these cages exude opulence on the outside but provide little room for comfort within. For The Collector, they are not beings but living exhibits, preserved in their most pristine state to showcase his power and taste for the extraordinary.   The gallery is more than a collection—it is a statement of The Collector’s dominance over rarity and wonder. Every piece tells a story, many of which were acquired through cunning trades with mortals and immortals alike. The staff of unseen attendants who clean and maintain his collection work tirelessly, ensuring every item remains pristine. For The Collector, his gallery is not merely a home but a reflection of his boundless ambition to possess the rarest and most unattainable things in existence.     The Trickster.
Known as The Trickster, The Collector’s mastery lies in the art of temptation and persuasion. He never steals outright; instead, he sets the stage for his targets to willingly offer up what he desires. The golden, shimmering cards he leaves behind are the hallmark of his dealings. Each card carries a tailored offer—a personal dream or desire that only The Collector can fulfill. The recipient need only recite the line etched on the back to summon him, sealing their fate in a bargain they are all but certain to accept.   Despite the perceived fairness of his trades, The Collector is a master manipulator. He often offers seemingly small trinkets or attainable goals in exchange for items or individuals of far greater worth. Those who try to outwit him often find themselves tangled in unintended consequences, victims of their own greed or hubris.     Notable Features:
The Collector is a striking figure, resembling a satyr with an air of refined elegance. His upper body is dressed in a finely tailored bourbon-colored suit, while his lower half remains exposed, revealing his goat-like legs covered in reddish-brown fur. His pristine white horns are engraved with graceful patterns, captivating in their artistry. A thin, dark mustache crosses his upper lip, complementing the neatly shaped goatee on his chin.   He is often seen carrying a cane or a violin, the latter of which he plays with haunting skill. His violet eyes glimmer with intelligence and mischief, offering a glimpse into the depth of his cunning. Though his demeanor is welcoming, there is an undeniable sense of danger that lingers in his presence—a reminder that every deal with The Collector comes at a price.
