Alpha Industries

One of the largest, best-known mega corporations in the known galaxy, Alpha Industries has outlets in virtually every system, excepting only the newest colony worlds. Even on those worlds, the equipment they make is likely in evidence, as they have extensive product lines for colonists. Perhaps surprisingly, they even have a large outlet on the pirate space station Abyss.

Alpha Industries produces simple, attractive-looking equipment, ranging from small starships to groundcars, timepieces to appliances, weapons and armor to colony pre-fabs. These items are affordable to begin with, and the prices only go lower when purchasing in bulk. Their gear is incredibly modular, to the point that many companies build their modules so they can interface with Alpha's. The only things Alpha Industries doesn't supply are larger starships and enchanted items, as those don't fit their business model yet.

Despite their ubiquity, Alpha Industries is viewed with some derision by many groups. This is because they focus mostly on simple, mass-produced equipment that can be easily replaced. Their items look good, and they will survive their advertised lifespans with proper maintenance, but one doesn't go to Alpha Industries for top-line equipment. Their reputation has been further eroded by companies selling knock-offs that are not safe, or even purchasing items that didn't pass Alpha Industries quality controls and reselling them.

The exception to these assumptions is the Excelsior division, one of Alpha Industries' luxury brands which focuses is not on reducing the cost but on pure quality, and does the job admirably. While expensive, Excelsior delivers exceptional quality and longevity, and most of their equipment is designed to accept enchantments easily. Most Excelsior equipment comes either in metal chrome or matte black colors.
