Personal history

From a young age, Varsis was a gifted and very trouble Velpir. He exceled through training becoming a powerful mage by age four hundred and ninety-three, far ahead of his peers. His abilities, however only served to add to his belief that the Velpir and himself specifically were superior to all life on Zantyra.
Not long after Varsis turned four thousand, he began work on Velpraxa, the great Velpiran tree-city. This would would continue for nearly one thousand years before seeing completion. During this time, many questioned the amount of work Varsis was putting strictly onto himself and he began having frequent outbursts on those who aided him in seeing the project to fruition. Many attributed Varsis expanding list of odd behavior to his closeness with the Facets and ingored his tirades. Eventually Varsis rose to ArchMage shortly before the Praetorin War.
When the monstrous Praetorim arrived on land the newly appointed ArchMage ordered them pushed back into the oceans they were crawling from, but their efforts were useless with the Praetorim's outer shells dampening most of the spells into nothingness. When Varsis chose to pick up forged weapons, he was certain the Praetorim were beginning to overrun the Zantran shores. After a final bloody batle, Varsis declared victory as most Praetorim returned to the oceans. When Khanosti later discovered the truth behind the Praetorim's behavior, the people were outraged, condemning his reckless behavior and lack of diplomacy, eventually removing him from power.
After his humiliation, Varsis disappeared and began exclusively studying the aether facet, convinced that he could use it to show his brother the truth about the Praetorim and regain power. His experiments ate away at his already crumbling mind, but at the same time a swiftly expanding group of loyal followers formed around him developing a way of life different than other Velpir, eventually beginning to call themselves the Varsian Velpir.
During one experiment a portal was opened pulling Varsis and the majority of his followers through and eventually dropping them into the forests of the Hovering Archipelago. The archipelagans at that time were early in their evolution and Varsis decided he had been sent to being order to the isle.
In time Varsian numbers multiplied and indoctrinated their culture onto the natives while also enslaving them to build the Varsian Throne - the city that was to serve as his capital. As the Varsian throne was nearing completion, the Desmodan organized a rebellion, arming themselves and the Damor'lych and coordinating a massive revolt. While tens of thousands of Archipelagans lost their lives during the fighting, they were eventually able to turn the battle in their favor.
During the final battle, Varsis found himself chased to the shores of Larendon, his people being forced into the tumultuous waters. In a desperate act, Varsis harnessed the earth and aether facets to lift the islands high into the air with the intention of another spell to send them hurling back to the waters and wiping all live from them. However, he was killed before unleashing the final spell and the islands were left hovering high in the skies.
