Seeking to preempt issues of dates not matching from planet to planet, the New Terran Republic creates the Horizon Galactic Calendar, centring all galactic events on the planet Horizon's 26-hour, 365-day cycle. The Calendar was intended as a top-level calendar, allowing other planets to develop separate calendar systems, while still serving as a centralised means of datekeeping.
