Tengwar

Tengwar is the name for the elven script used as the basis of writing for Eldraic and several other related languages.
 

Description

Tengwar is a flowing script designed to capture the phonetic nuances of melodic, tonal languages. Its characters are composed of sweeping curves and delicate strokes, often written in smooth, calligraphic lines that mirror the grace of the elven tongue upon which it is based. Each symbol corresponds to a sound rather than a single letter, allowing the script to adapt fluidly across related dialects while preserving clarity and aesthetics.
 

Languages

Tengwar is most notable for its use in the Elven languages of Eldraic and Nimdraic, though it is also used in Sylvan and Undercommon, as both share roots to Eldraic.
 

History

Tengwar was brought to Astora from the Feywild by the Elves along with their spoken language of Eldraic, though its roots before this are unknown.
