Jannti

Jannti is the language of geniekind, spoken by all the members of their race.
 

Description

Spoken Jannti is rich and resonant, marked by deep, throaty consonants and flowing, melodic vowels. It carries a rhythmic cadence, with a balance of guttural strength and poetic elegance, giving even simple phrases an air of gravitas.

Jannti is spoken by geniekind, and is popular amongst those conjurers who aim to summon and parley with them.
 

Dialects

Each race of genie has its own dialect of Jannti, though the differences are largely accentual and all are nearly identical in written form.

• Dao: The dialect of the Dao is characterized as low-pitched and rumbling. Unlike other Jannti dialects, Dao involves trilling vowels and the grinding of consonants.
• Djinni: Djinni is sibilant and melodious, reminiscent of a breeze.
• Efreeti: Efreeti is described as harsh and passionate. It is spoken in a clipped, precise rhythm, and tends to over-stress syllables.
• Marid: Marid possesses an imperious tone unique to the Jannti dialects.

 

Writing System

Jannti's written form makes use of the ancient Barazhad script.
 

History

The existance of Jannti pre-dates known history on Astora, and is presumed to be as old as the outsiders who speak it, dating back at least to the War in Heaven, and likely much further.

This language is not available to be learned via ranks in the Linguistics skill or as a bonus language unless explicitly granted to a character (such as by race, class, trait, or feat) or they obtain access to a source of knowledge on the language from which it can be learned (DM discretion).
