Akuma Clan
While calling themselves a clan, the Akuma clan is anything but one. Not hailing from another noble family, and coming from seemingly nowhere, not much is known about this organization. No imperial records ever mention an Akuma clan and there is no historical figure who either created or was granted the family name. They are recognized by none of the powerful clans of Rokugan, and so their recognition is based solely on their power. They managed to launch a 3 way pincer attack on Kyushu and wrestle the island out of the control of the Sugikawa clan, effectively killing it's Daimyo and half of the family. Reports claim that the Akuman ' Daimyo ' presented Yoshinaga's head to the people of Kogane as proof of the Sugikawa clan's end. Reports of Yoshihiro's appearance in Kosadomo however dispelled the clan's demise, and instilled hope in the people. With their combined effort, the people drove the Akumans out of Kogane. Yoshinaga's head was not retaken, however, as the Akumans would secure it and ride off with their trophy.

To maintain control over Kyushu, and to keep the Sugikawan clan from rising again.
