Brille

This sprawling city is the largest and most populous of all the Silver Cities of Varga. Situated on the main road between Dertona and Alba Regia (the most direct latitudinal route through Varga), Brille's constant stream of travelers and immigrants also makes it one of the most diverse cities in human-controlled Varga.

Demographics

It is possible to find all manner of humans, elfs, dwarves and other more exotic persons within the sprawling boroughs of Brille. While the Old City is still predominately human, Brille is the more diverse than almost anywhere else in Varga.

Government

Brille (and its surrounding region) are ruled by House Moore, which also controls the majority of the silver mines. The current head of House Moore is Sir Anthony Moore.

Defences

The original walls surrounding the Old City are the largest and most sophisticated. Most of the sprawling neighborhoods of the New City are protected by a newer, and smaller, set of walls. Even so, many inhabitants of Brille live outside of any formal defenses.
Two of the most striking features in Brille are the gates that travelers on the Broad Road must past through going in and out of the Old City. These gates are incredibly well defended, as there are no other official entrances or exits to the Old City.

Industry & Trade

Due to its humble beginnings as a trading post, a good part of Brille's industry is catered to the travelers on the Broad Road. That part supplements the income from the silver mines. Another large part of the revenue gathered in Brille is due to the steep taxes on goods moving through the city.

Infrastructure

The main feature of Brille is the Broad Road that runs directly through the center of the city, bisecting it. All of the city was built off of this road, and the organization of the city reflects that.
The city is split into four main sections (each of which contain smaller boroughs): North & South Old City, and North and South New City.
Like the other large Vargan cities, Brille has an extensive network of aqueducts in order to provide an adequate water supply to the citizens and the mines

History

Brille started as a humble trading post between the port town of Northport and the city of Trita, situated on a rare aquifer of fresh water. Brille began to grow steadily as the only point of interest on this section of the road.
The discovery of silver deposits led to rapid growth, creating the New City. This growth still hasn't quite slowed down to previous levels.

Architecture

The architecture in Brille is unique in that there are very few large buildings. It is mainly made up of multitudes and multitudes of smaller, squatter houses and other sorts of buildings.

Geography

The geography around Brille is relatively flat, but is still prone to the hilly forest landscape of Varga and is unfit for large plots of farmland.
