Kwenni Elves
"Yes! There is some perfecting to be done to your crude idea, but I could see it work. Give me a few centuries to dwell on it and come back to me. Indeed, that was a joke."
As the elven race spread throughout the world and developed their own civilizations and communities, there were many among them who sought to break away from the ties they held with the Feywild. They surmised that their changed identities behooved a change in cultural approach as well, a metamorphosis focused on goals of racial betterment. They began extensive centuries-long research and development of arts, science, magic, warfare and statecraft. It morphed their societies until they held only a passing relation to their nature-bound brethren, and they became Kwenni - the "High elves".
They were the first of their kind to leave the comfort of twilight and umbrous crowns of trees and embrace the world as a whole, seeking to master it for the elven race. With inherent elven longevity, no goal seemed impossible, but merely ponderous. The kwenni have the patience and will to master any task, and are able to set about it with longanimity that would make a stone giant proud. Their outlook and drive makes them seem aloof and arrogant to many outsiders, and it takes an impressive feat of someone not of their line to garner the respect of a kwenni. Many of them lead erudite, scholarly lives, and as such tend to cherish faculties of the mind and character more then physical traits that their kaiti cousins prize, though their warriors train to be as formidable as any, and their spellblades are famed world-round.

Features
Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, kwenni have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. They can see in dim light within 60 feet of them as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. They can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Senses. Kwenni have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Fey Ancestry. Kwenni have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put them to sleep.
Trance. Kwenni don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The common word for such meditation is "trance.") While meditating, they can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, elves gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Kwenni Weapon Training. You have proficiency with shortsword, scimitar and rapier.
Cantrip. You know one Cantrip of your choice from the wizard spell list. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.
