Yamatai
Geography
Ashihara's largest island chain, The Yamatai island chain is located on the eastern half of Ashihara, east of the Izumo and Nakahonia regions, and south of Kumamori in the north. The Yamatai islands are roughly 40% mountainous, most concentrated in the western portion of the island, which is then broken up by Various river valleys.
Climate
The island's climate varies from north to south and west to east. This is due in part to the presence of trade winds which bring cold air from the north pole during winter months, which due to the central mountains everything south remains cool. During the summer months, warm ocean air, brings hot and humid conditions to everything but the north, because of which portions of the southwest of the island are semi-tropical.
Natural Disasters
Being in between two major climate zones, and the effects of plate movements have made it so the Yamatai islands are prone to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. In addition major Typhoons come seasonally around the summer months.

Religion
The Yamatai religion centers around the worship of several major Kami, including Amaterasu, Sussano, Tsukiyomi, Inari, Hachiman, and Tenjin, although in addition recognizes thousands of other Kami, from local Kami, to minor Kami at a national level. The Emperor is believed to serve as an intermediary between the Takama Kami and the Yamatai people giving legitimacy to Yamatai shrines which associate with Emperor, although Yamatai people primarily worship at local shrines. . The Yamatai believe that by showing reverence and providing service to the Kami, they can ensure a better afterlife for themselves, rather than wandering in Yomi for centuries before reincarnation. This belief system emphasizes the importance of duty and service to the group, although slightly varies based on the Kami's own teachings.
