Souseiki Industrial Tech
Introduction
Industrial Tech covers Souseiki technologies involving the large-scale production of inorganic resources and finished goods. Souseiki Industrial uses magic to aiding in producing goods. Typical organization ranges from a factory, to manufacturing of individual craftsmen, to nearly fully automated.
Engines and Power
The most important Souseiki tech is the powering of other machines and devices.
Magic Steam Engine
Magic Steam Engine is the magic equivalent of the steam engine, able to power mechanical machines. It works by applying fire and wind magic to machines which heats water into steam to either generate electricity or mechanical motion. More advanced versions will use water and wind magic to maximize efficiency, and prevent the majority of the loss of energy. Its gained widespread adoption due its lack of pollution or flammability when compared to coal.
Enrai Engine
Enrai Engines are a machine which able to absorb Enrai within from Seikitan and from mages to power other machines and devices. It works by using a central chamber of reflective surfaces coated with Seikitan which is able to safely store magic without it leaking. Mages can input Enrai directly, where as the engine will burn Seikitan to release Enrai into the Chamber. From there it uses Raiko wires to transmit magic into other connected machines.
Duel Enrai Engines
A more recent innovation, Duel Enrai Engines work by combining the ablity to power mechanical machines and the ablity to power magic based machines. It combines the central storage chamber of the Enrai Engine with steam chamber as well to generate energy for machines while also burning Seikitan for magic.
Seikitan Cores
Seikitan Cores are devices which are miniaturized chambers of what are found in Enrai Engines. They serve as batteries able to power Souseiki devices, and be easily replaced or charged when needed.
Manufacturing and Forges
Souseiki aids manufacturing in various of ways, but is also limited in other its capabilities. Souseiki is good at increasing quality and efficiency, but is limited in use for goods which are mostly time consuming to make. Core to this are Souseiki machines which combine magic and mechanical process for specific function. Typically a mage can more finely direct the machine, while non mages use basic punch cards to give the machine directions.
Souseiki Factories
Textiles were the oldest factory in Ashihara, and were the first to adopt Souseiki Tech. Textile Factories use a combination of wind magic to make the fabric in a typical industrial textile machine move faster, while using wood magic to aid in preventing the fabric from clumping or splitting.
lumbermills, paper mills, and other wood based factories have been slower to adopt Souseiki based machines. They utilize mainly wood magic to directly enhance the quality and strength of wood by aging it. This increases the strength of the fiber in young wood enabling it revisit stronger loads. Fire magic more resistant to burning, as well as water magic to purify any polluted water.
Factory safety uses Souseiki tech sigils to better prevent accidents and problems. Wind Magic is used to prevent fumes building up, and purifying the excess. Water or Ice Magic is used to control temperatures, and to prevent burning of workers. While light magic is used for non reactive illumination.
Souseiki Automated Shape Manufacturing
The most advanced form of Souseiki manufacorting involes using magic to control the entire process, called Souseiki Automated Shape Manufacturing. The machines manipulate either wood or metal in desired shapes and forms according to input from the user. Greater refinement can be achieved by using water magic pressure jets or light magic lasers for cutting. The entire process is limited at scale, with lacking the ablity to match the production capacity of assembly lines. Although Souseiki Shape Crafting allows for creation goods which simply are not possible typical industrial mechancial motion.
Souseiki Artisan Hand Tools
For more deft and precession over quantity, Souseiki Tools are used by craftsmen and artisans. Souseiki saws using water magic to cool the blade, and wind magic to spin the blade for faster cutting. Souseiki Hammers using earth magic to create mini vibrations to efficiently work metal. Fire Magic welding of different metal parts seamless together for a stronger effect over riveting. Earth magic to aid in cutting stone, metal magic to aid in manipulating metal, wood magic with lumber, etc.
Souseiki Forges
The most impacted field is that of metallurgy, taking full advantage of earth and metal magic. Central to this are the forges which refine and smelt the metals Souseiki relies on, utilizing a combination of Fire and Lighting to reach the scorching temperatures needed to work with Kurogane, Sorakon, Raiko. There earth magic is used to purify the metal of impurities, and metal magic is used to make the metal stronger and more durable. While wind and water magic is used for rapid cooling of the metal. Souseiki Forges are also much better at smelting steel and bronze which are still used extensively where cost is prohibitive for Souseiki metals.
Mining and Resource Extraction
In addition to forging and refining metals, Souseiki tech is crucial to the extraction mineral resouces.
Souseiki Drills
Souseiki drills are connected to a Enrai Engine by Raiko wires which use earth magic to push through the earth, while using water magic to soften tough rock and prevent overheating from friction.
Souseiki Mines
Because traditional mines can frequently be unstable and dangerous for miners, Souseiki mines utilize a variety of machines and devices to increase safety and efficiency.
- A major problem is the lack of ventilation, which uses wind magic machines to cycle clean air down into mines, and attempts to dissipate the build of underground gases. For individual miners, wind magic gas masks are occasionally used when needed which filter toxic elements from the air, and which can provide oxygen.
- Another problem is the flooding of mines, usually from underground water, which water magic pumps are far better then steam powered pumps, and whose reach is deeper.
- Safe Illumination is proved by light magic projectors, and shadow magic night vision serves as back up in case of failure.
- To prevent collapse earth magic seismc sense is used to decect potonial collapses. Although In case of collapse, its also used to locate air pockets and noise sources to find possible survivors faster by detecting inconsistency and sounds in rock.
- For efficenacy Souseiki mines will use metal magic convery belts to conventally move ore between levels. While using fire magic bombs to speed up excavation.
Primative Souseiki Engine
According to local legends in eastern Yamatai, a local craftsmen and mage were expermenting with the mage conducting magic into a steam engine. The Mage would push fire into steam chamber heating the water directly and at higher tempatures then thier poor quality coal. The engine lost a great deal of steam due requiring a small opening, but the result was a engine powered by magic. Though the idea failed to become practical until Souseiki full invention later on.
